Call for Quotations: Develop E-courses for iPLAY Project (Integrating Play-based Learning Activities for Young Leaners)
Background
VVOB is a non-profit organisation with over 35 years of experience in improving the quality of education systems from a rights-based perspective. VVOB has currently long-term partnerships with education actors in 9 countries in the South (Cambodia, DR Congo, Ecuador, Rwanda, South Africa, Suriname, Vietnam, Zambia and Uganda) and in Belgium/Flanders. Its annual budget is around 13 million euros.
In Vietnam, VVOB is currently implementing the following programmes/projects:
- Preschool Teachers Apply Language-rich Teaching Skills and Knowledge (TALK) (2022-2026)
- Integrating Play-based Learning Activities for Young learners (iPLAY) (2019-2023), funded by The LEGO Foundation.
- Blended Learning for Educators in a Global Network for Development (BLEND), funded by The LEGO Foundation.
- Communities of practice Inspiring Teaching Innovations in the early Education System in Vietnam – Phases 3 (CITIES 3)
This call focuses on the iPLAY programme that started in 2019 and will be completed in 2023.
Objectives and scopes of the call
From 2021 to 2022, iPLAY project has conducted training on Learning through Play for school leaders and core teachers in 8 provinces of Vietnam, including: Lai Chau, Ha Giang, Thai Nguyen, Nghe An, Quang Tri, Da Nang, Quang Ngai, Ho Chi Minh City. Participants are provided with 2 main materials developed by MOET’s writer group: a Learning through Play guide and a Teacher Professional Development roadmap. In 2022 – 2023, iPLAY aims to roll out the Learning through Play courses to teachers in other provinces and cities in Vietnam, using e-courses built on the content of the 2 project materials. Doing so, VVOB Vietnam wishes to support the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) to achieve the objectives of the 2018 curriculum.
Through this consultancy, VVOB’s aim is to:
- Design two Moodle courses (SCORM-compatible) in Vietnamese, each for approximately 220,000 learners:
- one self-guided e-course on Learning through Play
- one self-guided e-course on Teacher Professional Development on Learning through Play
VVOB Vietnam has a Moodle Cloud website with a basic VVOB-themed design which is currently only used by VVOB staff to develop online courses and to practice within Moodle. It is expected that the developed courses will be transferred to VVOB and partners’ Moodle websites or other e-learning platforms upon completion and setup for use. Therefore, the courses’ learning elements should have appropriate use of external plug ins.
The main objectives of this consultancy can be summarised as follows:
- To develop and design the learning materials with collaboration of VVOB staff: maximum number of animated video: 23, maximum number of infographic: 4; visual and interactive (info)graphics, animated characters, and presentations.
- To design two self-guided e-courses with the following criteria:
- be visually appealing
- engage users through playful and creative design
- offer the most optimal user experience
- user-friendly interface
- designed with gamification elements
- variety of challenging, interactive and engaging learning components
- variety of automated assessments and pre-programmed feedback and tips
- allows for practice via interactive videos and materials
- downloadable high-quality audio-visual materials
- To transfer the courses, making sure they are set up properly and run smoothly, on Moodle, ETEP platform, K12online and other SCORM-compatible e-learning platforms of VVOB and VVOB’s partners.
- To integrate an external survey to be taken at the end of each course, marking its completion, in collaboration with VVOB’s MEAL staff.
Timeline: March 2022 to November 2023
