Project Objective

SI is implementing the USAID Learns activity (Learns). The scope of the five-year project is to support USAID/Vietnam staff and its implementing partners to implement more efficient, effective, and sustainable programs by (1) improving staff knowledge and skills in Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL) and Collaborating, Learning & Adapting (CLA); (2) advancing evidence-informed decision-making; (3) strengthening strategic collaboration between staff and local stakeholders.

Position Description

SI seeks to hire 01 full-time Capacity Building intern for the 12-month Internship program at USAID-Learns starting from November 2022.

Selection Criteria

Education

  • Recent university graduate, undergraduate or master’s degree (no more than 2 years ago);

Skills

  • Good English and Vietnamese reading and writing skills;
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Proficient Microsoft Office skills - Word, Excel, and particularly PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with graphic design software to design communication materials (Adobe, Figma, Visme, etc.);
  • Ability to pay close attention to details.

Experience

Experience in the following areas is an advantage but not required:

  • Experience in organizing training events in different settings (virtual, in-person, hybrid); familiarity with online training platforms (Zoom, Gmeet, etc.) and online facilitation platforms (Miro, Jam board, Kahoot, etc.);
  • Experience in developing and/or formatting documents and communication materials (in Words, PowerPoint, etc.);
  • Experience in visualization - including demonstrable design knowledge, such as layout, typography, color, interaction design and familiar with design/Adobe tools,
  • Experience in facilitating participatory workshops, focus group discussion, or other interactive events;
  • Experience with adults learning and/or learner centered approaches;

Roles and Responsibilities

With the support and guidance of the team, the intern will support Capacity Building team in:

  • Logistical arrangement and facilitation of capacity building programs/events for different groups of audiences in different settings (virtual, in-person, hybrid)
  • Collection and analysis of beneficiaries' feedback on CB events for ongoing adaptation/improvement;
  • Development of communication products (email, brief, take-home message, flyers, etc.);
  • Translation of documents (English-Vietnamese and Vietnamese-English);
  • Visualization efforts to develop and/or transform contents (data sets, quantitative and qualitative analysis, guideline, processes) into compelling visuals;
  • Visual improvement of existing materials;
  • Processing CB data for quarterly reports and adaptive management;
  • Knowledge management practices;
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Note: As part of the internship program, interns may be expected to conduct assignments which will be shadowing (repeating) active or past Learns assignments as part of the learning-by-doing process

By the end of the assignment, interns are expected to:

  • Become fully conversant about USAID Learns’ processes, approaches and all related tools, specifically in areas of Adult Learning, MEL and CLA;
  • Build strong skills set in designing and implementing capacity building events;
  • Build facilitation skills;
  • Build strong skills in visualization;
  • Have insights on development program cycle and management.

Terms of the internship

  • Duration: Up to 12 months
  • Remuneration: A stipend of VND 11,600,000 per month
  • Benefits: Social and health insurance according to the local labor law, telephone allowance, Tet bonus, paid leave, and holiday according to the organization’s policy.
