Caregiver/Foster Home Assistant; Social Worker/Foster Home Coordinator

Humanitarian Services for Children of Vietnam (HSCV) is a grassroots NGO based in Hanoi , Vietnam . It is dedicated to serving orphans, homeless children and other children in need in Vietnam by providing assistance in the areas of food, shelter, clothing, health and education. Services are provided directly to the children by HSCV or through local Vietnamese child-based organizations addressing these needs.  Our website: www.hscv.org

HSCV is establishing a shelter in Hanoi (Tay Ho) to serve girls living in dangerous or otherwise precarious situations. The aim of the home is to provide a safe and nurturing environment for these girls who, for varying reasons, can no longer live with their families. Girls up to the age eighteen will be considered for residency.

We are looking for full-time positions: Caregiver/Foster Home Assistance and a full-time social worker/ Foster Home Coordinator

1.Caregiver/Foster Home Assistant Job Description:

- Beyond just cooking and washing for the children, the Housemother is to make the facility feel like a home.
- Purchase food.
- Cook all meals for the children.
- Wash clothes daily.
- Ensure that the children clean the house and their bedrooms properly.
- Maintain household supplies.
- Assist the children with homework.
- Work with the Social Worker as needed to provide a high level of care for the children.
- Assist the girls learning homemaker skills such as cooking and doing laundry. 
- Keep a detailed written health record on all children. This includes noting all medical and dental issues when the girls are first admitted to the Home.
- Supervise the children to see that they are complying with all GFH rules.

Education and Experience

- High school graduate
- Further training in child care and development such as a formal nanny training program, early childhood classes and/or in-service training
- Proven child care experience with references
- First Aid and CPR certification
- Safety certification

2.Social Worker / Foster Home Coordinator Job Description:

- The role of the Social Worker is to interact with the children, provide guidelines, in accordance with those provided by the GFH Manager, and see that these guidelines are followed. 
- To help the children with their homework, or seek appropriate assistance for them when this is not possible.
- To insure the children are complying with proper hygienic procedures.
- To be knowledgeable regarding the children’s whereabouts at all times.
- To enforce appropriate, approved, discipline when necessary. (The children are never to be struck or deprived of food.)
- To communicate with the GFH Coordinator regarding all issues of importance.
- To file a written monthly report on the progress of each child with the GFH Coordinator. 

Education and Experience

- High school graduate
- Degree Social Welfare, or Humanitarian Work, or Education
- Further training in youth support and development
- Proven child care experience with references
- First Aid and CPR certification
- Safety certification
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Excellent written, spoken and English translation
