We are looking for committed, result-driven candidate for the position of Civil Society Organization (CSO) Engagement Officer, USAID STW, based in Ha Noi, Viet Nam
Major Functions:
Reporting to the Saving Threatened Wildlife project’s Partnership Technical Lead, the CSO Engagement Officer is responsible for the advancement of the project’s engagement and partnership priorities with the civil society actors including local NGOs, mass organizations and journalist network and broader community through an enabling, collaborative and capacity development strategy that will increase their leadership and institutional effectiveness on issues related to wildlife trafficking.
S/he will be expected to oversee and deliver the key priorities and activities related to CSO engagement including 1) knowledge management, developing and delivering a CSO outreach plan and capacity building strategy, 2) fostering inclusion and participation of CSO networks, mass organizations, investigative journalists and community-based organizations (CBOs) in policy dialogue and influencing the decision-making processes related to CWT measures, 3) coordinating efforts with other project partners to empower CSOs, volunteer networks and community participation in effective community reporting and inclusive conservation efforts.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s and a minimum of 5 years professional experience in a relevant field such as public policy, community engagement and development, environmental or conservation management, international relation, media coordination or advanced degree with 3 years’ experience;
- Demonstrated experience in project management within conservation, community engagement, CSO partnership including experience in engaging with conservation focused CSOs and local communities in Viet Nam;
- Experience and confidence in working and negotiating with CSOs partners and relevant stakeholders at all levels such as Fatherland Front, Ho Chi Minh Communist Party Youth Union, Women’s Union, Farmer’s Union;
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills are required to work in an organisation with a wide range of staff from difference cultures and functions;
