Pact works with communities, institutions, and governments to responsibly conserve, sustain and manage natural resources, enabling systemic solutions. Pact accomplishes this by strengthening local capacity, forging effective systems for the governance of natural resources and strengthening nature-based enterprises for development. Through multi-stakeholder engagement, Pact integrates natural resource management with conflict resolution livelihoods and local governance, while improving the enabling environment through strengthening of local, regional and national institutions, including government counterparts. Pact employs its proven capacity development approaches to address NRM challenges.
Position Purpose
Pact is recruiting experienced technical staff for various positions for an upcoming USAID-funded climate change and biodiversity program in Vietnam. The positions are contingent upon award.
Key Responsibilities
The Climate Change and Biodiversity Specialists will be responsible for providing technical input, assistance and guidance on a range of natural resource management issues. Illustrative responsibilities may include:
- Lead training and capacity building activities for communities, civil society organizations and government agencies on climate change adaptation, biodiversity conservation, or natural resource management.
- Conduct research and analysis to identify challenges to biodiversity conservation and climate change adaption and propose and put into practice viable solutions to these challenges
- Serve as technical advisors on the design, implementation and monitoring and evaluation of key project activities.
Basic Requirements
- Advanced degree in a relevant field such as ecological sciences, natural resource management, biodiversity conservation, natural science, or other related field. Extensive work experience in one or more of these fields may be a substitute for an advance degree.
- A minimum of 5 years of technical experience in climate change adaptation, biodiversity conservation, or natural resource management.
- A minimum of 5 years working in Southeast Asia, with preference for work experience in Vietnam.
- Expertise in climate change, biodiversity, and natural resource management approaches and principles.
- Understanding of, and experience with, USAID’s biodiversity and climate change policies, approaches, and procedures.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience implementing or managing natural resource management programs in Vietnam.
- Vietnamese language skills.
- Vietnamese nationals are highly encouraged to
