COMMUNICATION AND POLITICAL OFFICER
EMBASSY OF SWITZERLAND IN HANOI

The Embassy of Switzerland in Hanoi is currently accepting applications for the vacancy of Communication and Political Officer. This is a full-time position.

Responsibilities:

As a member of the Swiss Embassy’s diplomatic team, the Communication and Political Officer will take on the following tasks and responsibilities:

• Monitoring and analyzing domestic political developments in Vietnam and its relationship to neighboring countries and regional organizations (such as ASEAN), and draft analytical reports.
• Monitoring mainstream and social media in Vietnam; developing working relationships with Vietnamese media representatives.
• Management, content production and update of the Embassy’s social media channels in Vietnamese and English in close coordination within the Embassy as well as with the Swiss Consulate General in HCMC and the Swiss Asia-Pacific Social Media Hub in Singapore.
• Advice, support and work on the Embassy’s public diplomacy, contributing to the promotion of Switzerland’s values and foreign policy objectives, including in the fields of democracy and human rights, peace building and mediation, economic cooperation, culture and scientific cooperation, etc.
• Designing public information outreach, identifying public information projects, drafting media releases and organizing media conferences and outreach events of the Embassy.
• Maintaining and expanding working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders across the Vietnamese authorities, political sphere, civil society, media and academia; organizing meetings and facilitating dialogues with key political actors.
• Participating in the planning and implementation of high-level bilateral visits.

Personal Competencies:

• Strong interest and thorough understanding of Vietnam’s political and social developments.
• Ability to connect quickly with key political stakeholders. Excellent communication skills in Vietnamese and English. Strong analytical and reporting skills.
• Strong communication skills and practical experience in media
• Sound organizational and planning skills. Great motivation, commitment, loyalty and efficiency in achieving expected results.
• Strong sense of responsibility, aptitude to work both autonomously and in a team, ability to think strategically and to take initiatives. Open to change and ability to work under pressure and to respect strict deadlines. Aptitude to represent the Embassy in public.
• Open-mindedness and inter-cultural flair and demonstrable interest in integrating in a multi-lingual, multi-cultural and dynamic work environment.

Education:

• University degree - preferably Master’s degree, ideally in Communication / Political Sciences / International Relations / Social Science / or other related fields.

Work Experience:

• Minimum of 3-5 years of work experience in a media organization / government agency / international organization / civil society organization / academia or related fields. Practical experience in journalism is an asset, as is work and/or living experience in Switzerland.

Languages: Vietnamese (mother tongue) and English (proficient spoken and written). Good general knowledge of French and/or German are considered an advantage.
