Background on Hagar

Hagar was established in 1994 in Cambodia. In 2009, Hagar expanded its model to Afghanistan and Vietnam. Our focus is on working with women and children who are suffering from the impact of trauma resulting from slavery, trafficking and abuse. We seek to magnify the impact of this work with individuals and families through our advocacy and capacity building work with other service providers and institutions.

For those affected by trauma, and those who support them, Hagar is an expert in care and recovery. When healing happens the cycle of trauma stops. We believe that with the right support and capabilities people can recover and take the lead in their own journey to wholeness.

Hagar International in Vietnam is now looking for 1 passionate and qualified Vietnamese candidate to fulfil 1 position of Communication Intern based in Hanoi.

STIPEND OFFER: Negotiable

PURPOSE: Support the Communication Officer

RELATIONSHIPS: Project and Communication Officer ; Executive Director; Program Manager; Quality Assurance Manager; All Hagar Vietnam staff

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Translate English-Vietnam communication related documents.
  • Support in external and internal communications
  • Support in social media management and information management
  • Support in development of electronic communication products and lay-outs for printed materials
  • Be responsible for photo-taking, recording at events
  • Join field trips when required
  • Others as assigned by line manager

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCES

Education:

  • Bachelor Degree in Social Sciences or Communications, Journalism or relevant fields

Experience:

  • Experience in working with NGOs or CBOs is prefered.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Good command of oral and written English
  • Familiar with web-based content managing, photography, graphic design, digital visual and audio applications.
  • Commitment and inspiration to work in development areas and poor community
  • Hobbies and skills for media/social media work is an asset
  • Good interpersonal skills (especially in working with people from different thematic groups)
  • Good teamwork skills (supporting others, delegation, influencing, negotiating)
