Job title: Communication Intern
Start date: July 2014
Main duty station: Hanoi

Organization background:

The trade in wildlife products in Asia in the form of meat, pets, trophies, and medicine is escalating at an alarming rate. This unprecedented boom is due to a combination of factors, including habitat loss; road-building that links forests to markets; a growing human population; growing urban wealth; and commercial trade across the region that is increasingly well organized, though often illegal.

WCS is addressing this issue through scientific assessments and working closely with partners in applying practical solutions on the ground. Through in-depth knowledge and sensitivity to complex issues, we propose solutions that address the symptoms and underlying causes of the intense increase in hunting and wildlife trade while also supporting the livelihoods of rural communities.

Main responsibilities of the required post:

• Take part in production and dissemination of communications materials, development of creative communication campaigns to help meet WCS Vietnam Program objectives
• Assist in organising WCS Vietnam events including donor visits, study tours, regional meetings, and internal staff events
• Provide support in managing systems of communications material (e.g. photographs, publications)
• Provide support in managing online media mining to create daily reports
• Provide support in translation, editing and review WCS documents in English and Vietnamese
• Assist in preparation of program activities (meetings, workshops, training courses...)
