iDE (www.ideglobal.org) is a U.S.-based international non-governmental organization implementing development programs in Africa, Asia and Central America since its inception in 1984. In Vietnam, iDE has been active since 1991 employing a market facilitation approach with strong partnerships at local and national government levels with the purpose of creating improved market opportunities for small and medium entrepreneurs and smallholder farmers in a variety of agriculture, climate-smart technologies, water, sanitation and hygiene sectors and now moving towards plastic waste in the newly emerging plastic waste circular economy sector. iDE Vietnam focuses on building the capacity of government partners and private sector actors to effectively scale market-based solutions, resulting in lower poverty, increased climate resilience, better health and cleaner environments.

Scope of Work

Reporting to the iDE Vietnam Program Coordinator, the Communication Officer plays a technical role in developing effective communication products for different purposes at different levels, such as behavior change communication, social marketing, events, at the project/program level, or donor reporting, fundraising, PR, etc. at the organizational level. Currently, iDE Vietnam is implementing a large plastic waste circular economy project in Danang City, which will the primary focus in the Communication Officer’s scope of work, involving close collaboration with the implementing team of that project.

For technical aspects, the Communication Officer will work with iDE Global Marketing Director and other global technical managers as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop communication products in collaboration with project staff and related manager to ensure that communication products are collected, developed, produced with quality and timely manner for specific communication purposes. Communication products include (but not limited to) marketing/promotional/communication materials, testimonials, success stories, press release, media contents, graphic elements for other designs, communication pieces for events, workshops, conferences, etc.
• Ensure that all public-facing communications and marketing products align with iDE’s brand standards and donors’ requirements.
• Support the formulation of communication plans and the implementation for the plastic waste circular economy project in Danang City and other projects.
• Provides technical communication support for iDE Vietnam’s marketing and PR activities related to donor relation, fund-raising and partnership development.
• Maintain digital media archives including photos and videos.
• Potentially, Develop, write and edit marketing and communications materials, including press releases, blog posts and social media content.

Qualification & skill requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing or other relevant areas.
• English and Vietnamese language proficiency both written and spoken is required.
• At least 3 years of professional experience working as a communications officer. Experience working on topics such as behavior change communication, social marketing, PR.
• Experienced with design and publishing software (InDesign/Photoshop or related). Experience with video editing is an advantage.
• Experience working with traditional and social media.
• Advanced level of MS Word and PowerPoint and social media platforms.
• Experience of working with international donors-funded projects is a strong asset.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
