Job Title: Communications Consultant
Job Location: Hanoi, Vietnam (working at office is required)
Reports to: Program Director, PHC Program
Period: October 2024 – October 2025
Maximum number of working days: 130 days

I. Background

About PATH:

With expertise in science, health, economics, technology, advocacy, and dozens of other specialties, PATH develops and scales solutions—including vaccines, drugs, devices, diagnostics, and innovative approaches to strengthening health systems worldwide.

The Communications Consultant will support the Primary Health Care (PHC) program in Vietnam by leading two critical communication streams: Behavior Change Communication (BCC) and Impact Storytelling and Documentation. This role will be instrumental in promoting the following key areas of the program:

  • Strengthening PHC systems: Enhancing the access to and quality of health-related services through effective communication strategies that inform and engage stakeholders.
  • Pioneering human-centered and community-based care: Promoting a model of care that brings services closer to communities, emphasizing accessibility and responsiveness to local needs.
  • Enhancing long-term care: Addressing risks in youth, promoting community sports for health, and introducing innovative digital solutions and intervention models to improve long-term care effectiveness.

The Communications Consultant will also manage media relations and support event coordination to enhance the program’s visibility. The candidate is proactive and creative, with a strong ability to translate complex health information into clear, engaging, and effective communication products.

II. Scope of works:

  1. Behavior Change Communication (BCC):
    • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement comprehensive communication plans aimed at promoting behavior change in target populations related to non-communicable diseases, health promotion, and primary health care.
    • Content Creation: Create, adapt, and manage the production of a variety of communication materials, including websites, brochures, posters, videos, and digital content that resonate with diverse audiences.
    • Capacity Building: Develop communication guidelines and conduct training sessions, workshops and supportive supervision for local partners and stakeholders to enhance their communication skills and ensure effective delivery of messages.
    • Monitoring & Evaluation: Monitor the effectiveness of communication activities, providing feedback and adjustments as needed to optimize impact.
  2. Impact Storytelling and Documentation:
    • Project Documentation: Plan, coordinate, and execute the documentation of project activities, impact stories, and lessons learned through high-quality photos, videos, and written reports.
    • Production Oversight: Work closely with external vendors, such as photographers and videographers, to ensure that all project documentation aligns with PATH and partners’ branding and messaging guidelines.
    • Content Review: Review and refine all documentation outputs to ensure clarity, accuracy, and professionalism, and ensure clearance process before dissemination.
  3. Event Support & Media Relations:
    • Event Coordination: Assist in organizing and managing program-related events, ensuring they are well-executed and align with PATH’s objectives.
    • Press Releases & Media Kits: Draft press releases, prepare media kits, and coordinate media coverage for key events.
  4. Support in Document Formatting:
    • Provide expertise in formatting and designing project documents, including presentations, reports, and other communication materials, to ensure they meet high standards of aesthetics and professionalism.

III. Deliverables

Monthly report on the communication activities and products involved.

IV.  Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in communications, preferably within the NGO sector, with a focus on health or development communication. Knowledge in technology applications is an advantage.
  • Language Proficiency: English proficiency, both written and spoken, is required.

Skills:

  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
  • Experience in behavior change communication.
  • Proficiency in multimedia production (photography, videography).
  • Experience in event management and media relations.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with the health sector, particularly non-communicable diseases, health promotion, and primary health care and initiatives for youth.
  • Basic graphic design skills or experience using design software such as Adobe Creative Suite or Canva.
