Communications Specialist

The Skills Training for Economic Growth (STEG) is a cooperation project supported by Uniterra in Vietnam in the period of 2015-2020 with a focus on the development of two key economic subsectors: tourism and ICT (Information and Communication Technology).

We are seeking one (1) Vietnamese Communications Specialist to be based in our office in Hanoi with fieldwork conducted throughout Vietnam. The duration of the position will be from April 1, 2015 to March 31, 2016.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with WUSC staff, local partners, Communication and Public Engagement team in Canada and volunteers to identify and pursue opportunities for new types of communications strategies and social media platforms that support Uniterra’s overall goal and objectives;
  • Manage Uniterra Vietnam’s social media accounts and strategy to promote business development and marketing objectives;
  • Produce promotional resources and multi-media tools that demonstrate the results and impact of our activities in the community.
  • Develop the capacity of the staff and partners to manage and update media materials.
  • Train the staff and partners to develop a communications strategy so that the activities initiated can be continued in the future.
  • Coordinate with WUSC volunteers in the field to generate results and tools.

Minimum Requirements:

  • University degree in communications, marketing, journalism, and/or public relations; or other relevant area
  • Minimum 2 years experience in related fields;
  • Demonstrated strong written and oral communication skills – able to confidently write, edit and format a wide range of corporate documents, including press releases, reports and pitches for different audiences;
  • Fluent in English with minimum 2 years experience in translation and interpretation;
  • A self-starter with strong project and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously;
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure;
  • Previous professional services, marketing, advertising or public relations agency experience;
  • Ability to analyze through a gender lens;
  • Experience organizing and facilitating workshops/training with participatory approaches;
  • Friendly, enthusiastic, responsible, great capacity of adaptation, and good sense of humor;
  • Working experience in multicultural environments (Asian culture is preferable).

Terms and Conditions:

Period: one year contract

Starting date: April 1, 2015

Location: Based in Hanoi with frequent travel to the field.

Salary and Benefits: in accordance with Uniterra rules and policies for National Volunteer.
