Position Title: Construction Supervisor

Work Location: 80% working time at field sites such as Thai Nguyen, Thai Binh, Phu Tho, Hoa Binh and other provinces

Report to: Senior Program Manager

Supervise: None

Job Summary:

Construction Supervisor belongs to the Technical Group, providing qualified construction works on low-cost housing. They will support in the construction surveys at grass-root level in coordination with local authorities in service of low-cost housing projects as well as activities related to Global Village teams’ builds. They will also provide reports of monthly construction activities on site and play a vital role in the delivery of social community transition of construction knowledge and skills.

Main Accountabilities:

  • Support in family selection process and identifying home-partners’ housing improvement needs.
  • Monitor construction activities to insure the high quality meeting HFHV’s Housing Standard and low cost of Habitat for Humanity home improvements according to agreed plans and budgets
  • Evaluate and recommend designs, materials, processes and methods of construction
  • Support the families and partners in the development of build plan, purchase of materials and training for local masons.
  • Monitoring of construction progress and Sign off completion of house improvement, toilet and water systems
  • Arrange build activities; provide instructions for local masons and volunteers.
  • Support Senior Program Manager in designing the drawings, estimating cost, controlling and managing construction safety & quality, developing construction technical documents for community
  • Ready to participate other Organization’s activities as needed

Job requirements:

To be successful in this role, potential candidate should demonstrate following qualification & willingness & available to travel 80% working time at field sites such as Thai Nguyen, Thai Binh, Phu Tho, Hoa Binh and other provinces

1. Construction certificate
2. Previous experience in community based house construction, home or sanitation/water improvements
3. Soft skills include:

  • Current knowledge of the local building codes, construction techniques, requirements and other appropriate governmental regulations.
  • Has supervisory and construction training experiences.
  • Ability to use AUTOCAD software
  • Ability to support implementation of HFHV’s Housing Standards.
  • Ability and willingness to relate with people in grass-roots communities.
  • Willingness to learn and adopt new technology and methodology and a community change agent
  • Good communication and Team Player
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively within province and nationally as needed
  • Ability to use English and composition calculation software are advantages .
