Vietnam Textile & Apparel Association (VITAS) would like to invite a team of professional experts and/or any local consulting firm to submit proposal to take up the assignment to develop responsible business guidance standards in promoting Children’s Rights in the Textile and Apparel industry with the details as below:

The tasks and responsibilities that will include:

  • Review the UNICEF’s tool ‘Children’s Rights in the Garment and Footwear supply chain: A practical tool for integrating children’s rights ito responsible sourcing frameworks’ https://www.unicef.org/media/70121/file/Childrens-rights-in-the-garment-and-footwear-supply-chain-2020.pdf and other the relevant documents on integrating children's issues into their supply chains, ESG framework.
  • Gather information and insights from 7-10 major/front runners companies to quickly identify gaps in children's rights management, and assess the industry impact on children's rights.
  • Based on findings draft a summary report and propose an initial outline of guidance. The report may also review the existing framework of ESG and identify the gaps and rooms for improvement in promoting the Children’s Rights. This combination of new findings and inclusion of existing material allows to create the best possible updated guidance. This draft will be submitted to VITAS for review and feedback in consultation with VCCI and UNICEF.
  • Upon submission of the full draft guidance, the consultants will actively seek inputs and comments from VITAS members and various stakeholders through at least 2 technical consultation sessions organized by VITAS.
  • The guidance document will undergo revisions and finalization based on these contributions, ensuring that it incorporates professional feedback and meets the satisfaction of VITAS, VCCI and UNICEF Vietnam.

Qualifications of a national consulting firm and/or a team of experts:

Team leader

  • Holds PhD’s degree and/or MBA degree of Law, Business Administration/economics, or relevant areas with minimum 12 years of relevant professional experience (for team leader); 7 year working experience is required for team members.
  • Strong expertise in the textile and apparel sector’s industrial knowledge and practice. The individual should have a strong understanding of industry regulations and policies, as well as the ability to navigate and interpret relevant guidance and standards.
  • Proven good understanding of responsible business conduct/CSR, human rights and business, sustainablity and business etc. Good understanding about Vietnam business context

Children's Rights and business expert

  • The team member should be well-versed in the field of children's rights and possess a deep understanding of the impacts of business activities on children's rights. This individual should be familiar with international frameworks and guidance related to children’s right and process the ability to assess and analyze the implications of business practices on children.
  • S/he should own expertise in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) aspects and responsible business practices. This individual should have a strong knowledge of sustainability principles, corporate responsibility, and ethical business practices. They should be able to provide insights and guidance on integrating ESG considerations into the guidance document and supporting businesses in adopting responsible practices.

In addition, the team should hold the following:

  • Analytical skills, experience in doing research, guidance development for business, and report writing
  • Fluency and proven oral and written skills in Vietnamese and English.
  • Excellent and proven communication skills with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Ability to engage in dialogue with counterparts (businesses, government agencies, development agencies, etc.) on technical issues.
  • Has provided similar consulting services to UN agencies, or international agencies.
  • Similar experience for business chambers and associations.
