I. Background
SNV (www.snvworld.org) is a not-for-profit international development organization. SNV has been working in Vietnam since 1995. Using market based approaches, SNV is committed to reducing poverty by catalysing environmentally sustainable solutions for the poor in agriculture, energy, water & sanitation, and REDD+.
In Vietnam, SNV manages the Inclusive Business Accelerator program (IBA, https://iba.ventures/). Inclusive business is a strategic, innovative, commercially- viable business initiative, which unlocks entrepreneurial opportunities for low-income markets to engage in the value chain. Inclusive business creates shared value for the businesses, low-income markets and the environment.
The first one-stop shop in Vietnam for various services needed by businesses which include low-income groups in their operations. We use innovative acceleration models to make the businesses investor-ready. Our scope of services, including Market Intelligence & Opportunity Identification, Business Design & Readiness, Investor – Investee Match making, Impact Measurements & Scalability.
II. Consultancy service description
1. Objectives
The IBA Vietnam is currently supporting one of our clients in developing sustainable canna production material zone in Quang Binh province. SNV is looking for a national consultancy to provide technical service on sustainable canna production.
The main objective of the consultancy is i) to provide intensive training for key agronomists of IBA client in Quang Binh province; ii) develop guideline and leaflets on sustainable canna production at farm level.
We are seeking an experienced consultant(s) to work under the guidance of IBA Program Manager to execute following works:
2. Scope of work
The consultant(s) will fulfil the following tasks, in cooperation with IBA client and under the supervision of IBA Program Manager
- Design an 30-day intensive Training of Trainer (ToT) curricula on canna production with participatory method and course agenda for the training courses;
- Provide a 30-day intensive TOT training on canna production for 04 staff of IBA client;
- Support 04 staff of IBA client in developing Training of Farmer (TOF) training materials;
- Collaborate with 04 staff of IBA client in conducting 4-5 training courses in Quang Binh province for farmers of IBA clients; and
- Develop a set of leaflets on canna production at farmer level.
3. Deliverables
- One set of 30-days intensive ToT training documents on sustainable canna production including training agenda and training materials.
- Short ToT report (English and Vietnamese) highlighting training results
- One set of 5-day ToF training documents on sustainable canna production at farmer level including training agenda and training materials.
- Short ToF report (English and Vietnamese) highlighting training results and recommendations for canna production
- A set of leaflets on canna production at farmer level

III. Qualifications, skills and experience required:
The consultant and/or group of consultants should meet the following requirements:
- Having good understanding on canna production;
- Experience with training and developing training materials for canna production and processing;
- Significant and intensive practical experience in supporting and facilitating farmer groups in different agriculture value chains from establishment to operation and sustainable management in Vietnam;
- Having experienced in supply chain management in private sector/enterprises;
- Being fluent in research methodologies (qualitative and quantitative methods);
- Being able to deliver the committed outputs on time;
- Having excellent analytical skills and report writing skill in English;
