Consultancy Service for Training of Trainers
TERMS OF REFERENCE
TRAINING OF TRAINERS
CONTEXT
Since October 2015, MdM, together with Hanoi Medical University (HMU), the Center for Supporting Community Development Initiatives (SCDI) and the Vietnamese Network of People who Use Drugs (VNPUD) has launched a project: “SUPPORT FOR HCV CARE AND TREATMENT FOR INJECTING DRUGS USERS IN VIETNAM”, funded by the French Agency for Development (AFD). The main objective of this program is to demonstrate a model of care adapted to PWIDs regarding HCV screening and treatment.
Two teams of Peer Educators (PE) have been receiving technical capacity building on a regular basis to conduct community based community activities: outreach, individual and group counselling, referral, mobile services, treatment follow-up… The goal of this ToT is to supplement technical trainings to enhance the impact and effectiveness of PE in providing Harm Reduction training to fellow peer educators throughout the country.
MdM is looking for an eternal consultant to deliver a ToT training to the teams. This consultancy will involve preparing the content and training materials as well as organizing, administering and facilitating a 3-day Training of Trainers (ToT) workshop in Hanoi for MdM’s Peer Educators’ team.
THE TRAINING OF TRAINERS SHOULD COVER THE FOLLOWING:
- Adopt a step-by-step approach to designing, delivering and evaluating a training event
- Define learning objectives based on an analysis of people’s needs
- Design a participatory training session, blending different approaches to maximise learning
- Demonstrate a range of training skills, building confidence through practice and feedback
- An opportunity to practice delivering key sessions and receive feedback
TARGET AUDIENCE:
- Peer Educators involved in Harm Reduction activities looking to enhance their existing skills
- The PE receiving this ToT will be delivering training to fellow PE on Harm Reduction and associated skills such as outreach, counselling, referral, case management…
PROPOSED PERIOD AND DURATION OF CONSULTANCY:
The duration of the consultancy is 5 working days for the trainer:
- One day preparation and development of training agenda, modules and handouts. The materials will be based on needs and characteristics of trainees.
- Half a day for consultations; finalization of the training materials, agenda, detailed modules and handouts and preparation of final report
- Three days of actual delivery of the ToT workshop - Training to take place in September 2018 on MdM’s premises
- Half a day report writing
All required documents/materials in both English and Vietnamese.
APPLICANTS WITH THE FOLLOWING EXPERIENCE ARE WELCOME TO APPLY:
- Demonstrable experience designing and delivering training for trainers
- Experience working on/supporting harm reduction programs
- Experience of interactive and innovative training approaches
- Willing to work closely with vulnerable population.
