Vinh University, the project “Saving the Saola from the brink of extinction” funding from SAOLA INTERVIEW SURVEY project seeks from consultants to perform the work in elucidate scientific and technological duties for the topic "Conducting field survey exploring local ecological knowledge to identify best potential Saola areas"

PROJECT LOCATION

Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue and Quang Nam - Viet Nam.

REQUIREMENT

  • Efficiency level of English
  • More than 10 years experiments on Conservation
  • Expert on Community science, Community mapping, Taxonomy and Geography

OBJECTIVE

The consultant is expected to achieve the following objectives:

  • Develop field methods and data storage system for interview data about saola status, including community mapping.
  • Train field team in field methods and in use of online data storage system (Dropbox).
  • Review and check all data entered.
  • Facilitate meetings after each field trip to divide saola range into 'catchments' and then to assign ranks to each catchment for chance of saola survival and in terms of knowledge quality.
  • Prepare summary justification of status of each catchment, with reference to field data and assist with production of maps.

Note: Additional deliverables and working days may be included in a contract modification to align with the agreed-upon plan.
