Consultant to organize training course on enhancing communication skills for community health workers and teachers at secondary schools in Can Tho

Introduction

Orbis is a leading NGO that has been a pioneer in the prevention and treatment of blindness for almost all 40 years. Orbis transforms lives by delivering the skills, resources and knowledge needed to provide accessible quality eye care. In Vietnam, Orbis has been providing the highest level of expertise to support the development of eye care services and blindness prevention– especially in the areas of pediatric eye care and uncorrected refractive errors (RE).  Since 2015, Orbis has worked to strengthen the eye health system in the country, focusing on the quality of services and human resources.

The project - ‘A Participatory Model for Integrating Vision Screening into Children’s Annual Health Check Up in the Mekong Delta Region of Vietnam’, sponsored by USAID, aims to reduce the prevalence of visual impairment and blindness among by expanding vision screening services in nine districts and strengthening tertiary health facilities in Can Tho. To improve communication capacity of community health workers and teachers at secondary schools in Can Tho in eye care, Orbis is looking for a team of 02 qualified consultants to conduct training for project schools’ teachers at Can Tho’s provinces during April 2023.

Scope of Work

The consultant will work closely with Orbis to carry out the following tasks:

  • Develop contents for the training course on communication skills for schools, including  knowledge, methodology and skills on community events organization at schools and practicing activities on development, event and extra-curriculum organization. Training materials included pre and post test
  • Deliver training contents to schools in 9 districts in Can Tho city. In total, there are 7 trainings, 2 days/trainings.
  • Write consultancy report with best practices/recommendations that may be used in future programming.
  • Directly accountable to the Project Manager and the Country Director during this consultancy period.

Required Qualifications, Skills for consultant

  • Academic Qualification: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • Experience: A combination of minimum 5 years of experience in organizing and facilitating community activities.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Ability to work in team spirit and have good communication skills.
