OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT FOR A MARKET RESEARCH IN 04 COMMUNES OF HOANG HOA DISTRICT, THANH HOA PROVINCE.

Brief description

An international NGO working in Thanh Hoa province for more than 3 years is looking for a consultant to develop a research on how to improve sale prices for agriculture products produced by poor farmers located in Hoang Hoa district.

The result of the research is expected to be submitted at the end of September.

1.Requestor

CIDEAL Foundation of Cooperation and Research (Spanish NGO) together with  Thanh Hoa Fund for Poor Women (Vietnamese NGO).

2.Context

CIDEAL Foundation is a non-profit organization that works in International Cooperation field since 20 years, carrying out research and training activities, technical consultancies, and implementing development projects in different countries. Currently, the NGO has experts and local offices in Latin America, Caribbean, Africa, Asia and Middle East.

CIDEAL together with Thanh Hoa Fund for Poor Women is developing a project in Thanh Hoa province, middle-north of Viet Nam, with focus on 4 communes in Hoang Hoa district (Hoang Khánh, Hoang Giang, Hoang Xuan and Hoang Phuong). The current action pretends, involving local actors in the process, to reach the integral development in these communes which are in low levels of it.

The project has different axis of actuation in order to improve the life conditions of the beneficiaries: sustainable food security, health and incomes improvement, credit access, mitigation of natural hazards, and improvement of the water and sanitary access. Main cross-sectional aspects are gender, reducing the negative impact of migrations, environment conservation, and improvement of the human development conditions.

3.Purpose of the study

Premise / Description

• In 3 years, the project has helped farmers to diversify their income sources with different kinds of product such as: cow, pig, chicken, musk duck, vegetables (in garden and field in winter crop). With the idea of transforming techninc into safety agriculture production we are supporting farmers in 4 communes to make compost from straw and agricultural waste to use for their fields and gardens. We considered focusing on bio-agricultural prducts, for example: rice, vegetable to develop as commodity toward have better price, label, and income.
• Through this market research we hope to find the way to help  farmers to have stable incomes base on good price, because until this moment they have been selling their products to market separetly and got not good price.

Target population:

• 650 households with area of cultivation is 81,2 ha for rice and around 20 ha for vegetable.
• Area: 04 communes (Hoang Xuan, Hoang Giang, Hoang Phuong, Hoang Khanh)

Contents of the study

• Analyzing different options to get higher prices in a sustainable manner with focus on the selling of bio products (rice and vegetables) and its possibility to establish link between farmers and distributed channel which can work effectively and independently. A reference we would like to consider is providing “the standard VietGAP” to agricultural products (rice, vegetables) produce by our target population
• The way to execute such options: timetable, steps, budget, needed resouces…
• Recommendation about the most suitable option which Project can implement in 04 communes.

4.Terms of reference and Timeframe for proposals

• All the proposals must include the CV and a description about the main contents and methodology that will be followed to perform the study. The timeframe to carry out the market research and the estimated budget must be also included.
• The deadline to submit the proposals is July the 15th.
