Deputy Director

FHI 360, also known as Family Health International, is a non-governmental organization that works with the Vietnam Ministry of Health, other ministries, provincial health services, and local non-government organizations to promote the health and well-being of the Vietnamese population, particularly vulnerable and disenfranchised groups. In Vietnam, FHI 360 is currently building the capacity of local organizations in HIV prevention, care, and treatment; TB control; nutrition; maternal and child health; dengue control;
behavioral and epidemiologic research methods training; clinical research in new vaccines and drugs; and laboratory strengthening.

We are currently seeking a dynamic leader and management professional for the position of Deputy Director for the FHI360 Vietnam country office, Hanoi based.

Main Responsibilities:

The Deputy Director will be responsible for the overall Country Office (CO) administration and programs with deputy functions. The Deputy concurrently serves as the Deputy Chief of Party for the $45 million USAID Sustainable Management of the HIV/AIDS Response and Transition to Technical Assistance Project (SMART TA), which provides technical and financial support to provinces and national organization in Vietnam with a primary emphasis currently on HIV prevention, testing, care and treatment.

The Deputy Director will oversee and provide support for the execution of technical operations for the SMART TA project. An important responsibility of this position will be to modify the annual work plan as needed, develop implementation plans, and oversee and monitor execution to ensure completion of activities on schedule and within budget. In collaboration with the Country Director, the Deputy will coordinate international and local technical support as needed to help ensure successful program execution and to identify opportunities for new programming initiatives and funding to support implementation.

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and abilities:

  • Strong knowledge and experience in HIV/AIDS project management and implementation.
  • Demonstrated strategic planning, staff development and capacity building experience.
  • Experience in leading and managing complex projects that are strategic in nature and
  • national/international in scope.
  • Work experience in Vietnam (preferred) or Asia region.
  • Vietnamese nationals with an excellent command of English (spoken and written) strongly preferred
