Agriteam is currently recruiting a Deputy Director for an upcoming Food Safety & Agri-Food Value Chain project in Vietnam.  The objective of the project is to improve the performance of national and sub-national governments in enforcing food safety regulations; to increase competitiveness of Vietnamese agri-food products domestically and internationally; and to increase consumer demand for safe agri-food in Vietnam. The project will operate across the agri-food value chain by engaging and building the capacity of three main target groups: the public sector (enabling environment), the private sector (supply side), and the consumer (demand side).

The Deputy Director will be based full-time in Vietnam, and will be responsible forsupporting the Field Project Director in the management of the Project, personnel and contractors.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Agronomics, Business, Economics, Public Health, or a related field;

• Recent professional development (training, certification, degree/diploma, publications, research) related to project management, financial management, agronomics, value chains, commerce, economics or business;

• Minimum of 8 years of experience in the Agri-food Sector;

• Minimum of 5 years of experience managing day-to-day operations of large, multi-year (3+ years, 5+ million) public sector projects in a developing country;

• National and international experience in safe/quality food value chains, food inspection, and food safety practices;

• Experience providing institutional capacity building;

• Experience applying principles of results-based management and risk management;

• Experience managing complex multi-stakeholder relations, working with a diverse group of stakeholders ranging from government departments, donors, farmers/producers, processors, and distributors ;

• Demonstrated experience working in Vietnam or in the region;

• Knowledge of Vietnamese institutions, agencies, universities, private sector companies and ministries involved in food safety;

• Must be fluent in English;

• Must be Vietnamese citizen, permanent resident, or holding a valid Vietnam work permit.
