Development Manager

Operation Smile Vietnam is the Representative Office of Operation Smile Inc., with its Headquarters in Norfolk, Virginia, USA.  The organization specializes in providing free reconstructive surgeries for children and young adults in developing countries as well as offering extensive training to local medical professionals and volunteers for sustainable purposes.  OSV has worked in Vietnam since 1989 and has the following vacancy for an Expatriate in its Ho Chi Minh City Office.

DEVELOPMENT MANAGER – VIETNAM

Based in Ho Chi Minh City with regular travel to its main office in Hanoi to fund-raise, network and coordinate special fund-raising events of the organization throughout Vietnam.   We seek a highly motivated, committed, passionate and energetic expatriate to help OSV make a significant impact on its in-country programs.

Job Summary: The successful candidate will be given challenging responsibilities to lead and contribute to the development planning and provide a major role in supporting and managing fund raising plans of the organization in Vietnam.
(i) Fund raising towards programmatic plan of the organization for both short and long term objectives, including assisting in formulating and implementing an annual budget;
(ii) Planning, managing and coordinating fund raising events, including design of PR materials and being a spokesperson for the event at any press conferences or other marketing opportunities
(iii) Liaising with the Advisory Committee and senior personnel within the organization with a view to maintaining a comprehensive and informed level of collaboration between all parties concerned
(iv) Arranging and accompanying VIP visits to Mission sites in the company of Sponsors and/or VIP visitors or medical personnel

Key Competencies:
Whilst a University graduate in the field of Marketing, PR and Development Strategy and/or Social Work would be preferable, OSV will also consider applications with at least 5 years experience in community development whose skills and abilities have been acquired through a combination of formal schooling, self-education, prior experience, or on the job training.   Well-developed presentation, negotiation and interpersonal skills combined with the ability to work with a minimum of supervision, with experience in managing and supervising staff, are also needed.  Good computer skills (word processing, excel and power point) and confidence in dealing with the public in a fund-raising role are essential.
