iSEE is a non-profit organization working for the rights of all people, including minority groups. iSEE aims to promote the values of freedom, equality, and tolerance in Vietnamese society.

Activities of iSEE support the development of civil society. The iSEE activities include: (i) researching practical social, economic and environmental issues related to the target groups; (ii) based on research, conducting advocacy and protect human rights; (iii) raising societal awareness about equality, tolerance, freedom and non-discrimination values; (iv) conducting activities to increase capacities so that minority groups can protect their rights.

iSEE is managed by a Director and there are currently two Deputy directors, 15 staff and a network of collaborators. The Director reports to the iSEE Council, which is a body created by iSEE to provide strategic leadership. The Director will be selected by the iSEE Council together with staff, and appointed by the Council.

The Director will lead executive management of iSEE, including all daily activities of iSEE, with the help of the Deputy directors.

Working predominantly in Hanoi and in a friendly and diverse environment, the Director of the Institute for Studies of Society, Economy and Environmental (iSEE) will be responsible for managing organizational strategies, building and supporting effective partnerships, and managing iSEE’s human resources, finance and office operations.

  • The Director is accountable to the iSEE Council and staff for all daily activities of iSEE.
  • The Director proactively upholds and develops the vision, mission and core values of iSEE in all iSEE activities with partners, as well as in personnel, administrative and financial management.
  • The Director manages / supervises all iSEE activities, including administrative and financial systems and practices, human resources, research activities and project management, based on Government regulations and agreed iSEE policies, strategies and plans.
  • The Director will manage / supervise / lead on strategy development, planning, progress and quality monitoring, impact assessment/ evaluation, and reporting (internally and towards supervising entities and other stakeholders).
  • The Director represents the organization in accordance with the iSEE mandate in interactions with the authorities at different levels and international organisations and events.
  • The Director is responsible for expanding partnerships, improving the image and reputation of iSEE, seeking opportunities for expanding cooperation and financing.

Key requirements: (More details in the Job Description)

  • At least 5-year experience in organizational, personnel, financial, office and project management.
  • Leadership experience and ability, motivating and leading the iSEE team as well as iSEE partnerships towards achieving their goals and strategies.
  • A Master's degree or Doctorate in economics, sociology, health, law, environment or other disciplines related closely to iSEE’s core interests and values.
  • Experience in development practice, including support towards improvement of human rights, equity, empowerment of minority groups, etc.
  • Ability to communicate well with Government agencies, public media, international donors, minority groups and civil society organizations, as well as business.
  • Fluency in spoken and written Vietnamese and English.
  • Passion and desire to develop iSEE as a leading organization promoting the rights of minority groups (ethnic minorities, LGBTIQ, women).
