Disaster Risks Reduction (Forecast-Based Financing) Project Manager

At present, Vietnam Country Office has programs in 20 out of 63 provinces in Vietnam.

We are looking for one Vietnamese national for:

Vacancy: Disaster Risks Reduction (Forecast-Based Financing) Project Manager

Based in Danang

Main Responsibilities:This position is responsible for overall project planning, implementation and management of the Forecast-Based Financing Project, a humanitarian project funded by ECHO through FAO in Gia Lai Province. In addition to this role, the post holder is expected to contribute in our humanitarian response, in the event of any disaster in Vietnam, by providing an interim management support for any specific project or activities as designated DRR and Humanitarian Program Manager.   

In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

Key Competencies:


  • At least bachelor’s degree relevant to DRR or Humanitarian and training in project management

  • At least 5 years work experience either as Project Officer or Manager of a DRR or Humanitarian project.

  • Experience in the implementation of DRR or Humanitarian project funded by institutional donors

  • Demonstrated capacity in project planning, implementation and management covering the preparation of annual work plan, budgeting and procurement

  • Experience working with government counterparts and the community with proven results.  

  • Solid understanding of the Vietnamese government system at provincial, district and commune levels.

  • Strong leadership skills, good communication skills and team work, analytical skills and problem solving.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and can stay in the field for extended period of time

  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.

  • Good computer skills: MS Office required.

  • Willing to abide by SCI Child Protection Policy/Child Safe Guarding and Code of Conduct


  • Prior experience working with Save the Children and familiarity to organization’s policies and procedures will be an advantage
