Job title: Early Education Specialist

Job Overview:

The Early Education Specialist is responsible for supervising, mentoring, assessing and supporting early education staff so they can provide quality educational for the young children in the Early Learning Center.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development required; Masters degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Education preferred

  • At least three years experience working directly with young children

  • Demonstrated track record of hands on teaching and mentoring adults

  • Knowledge of play-based and emergent curriculum required

  • Experience working in an international education center preferred

  • Deep knowledge of best practices for care and education of young children

  • Vietnamese and English proficiency required

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Strong communication skills

  • Keen observation skills with the ability to apply insights into daily practice

  • Flexible

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work cooperatively with the ELC Director, Early Education Specialist and the OneSky team to successfully run the ELC center.

  • Assist in hiring qualified staff for the ELC.

  • Monitor program quality on a daily basis through classroom visits providing guidance promptly as needed.

  • Guide staff in implementing programming in ways that are consistent with established best practices.

  • Communicate regularly with parents about center operations using formal and informal methods.

  • Work cooperatively with the other Early Education Specialist to create and analyze assessments of program quality, child progress and staff professional growth.

  • Create and lead new learning/training opportunities for ELC teachers and home provider trainers that meet individual and ELC needs.

  • Supervise and mentor home provider trainers.

  • Provide training to parents on selected topics.

  • Work with the ELC Director, Early Education Specialist and staff to ensure ELC materials and equipment meet safety and health standards.

  • Read and share new research findings or practices that can be helpful to staff.

  • Participate in professional development opportunities to expand skills and knowledge.  

  • Engage in discussions with other professionals within and outside OS that advance thinking and learning.

  • Work with the Early Education Specialist to develop a report to the Senior Director of Global Programs on a bi-weekly basis about educational programming accomplishments and challenges.  

  • Work cooperatively with the Early Education Specialist and ELC Director to create and monitor budgets.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Reports to: ELC Director and Senior Director of Global Programs.
