Energy Technical Specialists

Chemonics International, a Washington D.C.-based international development firm, seeks experienced technical specialists for the anticipated USAID funded Vietnam Clean Energy Program. Based in Hanoi, this 5-year program will support clean energy development in Vietnam as a key part of comprehensive efforts to promote low carbon economic development. The program will support the Government of Vietnam for the design of its Low Emission Development Strategy and support increased use of renewable energy technologies and energy efficient practices. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

Energy Institutional Capacity Building Specialist
- Minimum 7 years professional experience working in and knowledge of relevant technical areas, including: clean energy development, energy efficiency or renewable energy, and energy policy
- Proven results building institutional and government capacity for using energy sector data in decision making, experience with developing LEDS preferred
- Advanced degree in engineering, clean energy, environmental science, energy-related studies in science and/or agriculture, or other related field.
- Knowledge of Vietnam’s energy policies, laws, institutions and management issues
- Experience working on donor-funded clean energy programs
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
- Fluency in Vietnamese strongly preferred

Energy Efficiency Specialist
- Minimum 7 years professional experience working in and knowledge of relevant technical areas, including: energy efficiency in high energy sectors, clean energy development, partnership building within energy sector
- Expert in increasing energy efficiency in high energy use sectors, particularly in Southeast Asia
- Relevant experience working with government bodies and private sector to improve energy efficiency standards
- Advanced degree in engineering, clean energy, environmental science, or other related field
- Knowledge of Vietnam’s energy policies, laws, institutions and management issues
- Experience working on donor-funded clean energy programs
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
- Fluency in Vietnamese strongly preferred

Renewable Energy Investment Specialist
- Minimum 7 years professional experience working in and knowledge of relevant technical areas, including: renewable energy technology investment, piloting of renewable energy projects, increasing government investment in public or private sector research and development
- Proven experience channeling investment into renewable energy programs and conducting successful pilots in a variety of technologies
- Relevant experience working with government bodies and the private sector to improve investment climate
- Advanced degree in engineering, clean energy, environmental science, or other related field
- Knowledge of Vietnam’s energy policies, laws, institutions and management issues
- Experience working on donor-funded clean energy programs
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
- Fluency in Vietnamese strongly preferred
