TERMS OF REFERENCE

ENGLISH – VIETNAMESE TRANSLATION SERVICES

1. INTRODUCTION

German Red Cross (GRC) is part of the world wide Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. As a humanitarian organization, GRC assists victims of conflict and disaster as well as people affected by social or health related crisis. The Red Cross Movement provides assistance to vulnerable people without discrimination as to nationality, race, religious beliefs, class or political opinions and adheres to the seven principles of the Red Cross movement: Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary Service, Unity and Universality..

Since 2018 the German Red Cross (GRC) and its partner Vietnam Red Cross (VNRC) have started a new project ““FbF Ready” which aims at reducing the human suffering of vulnerable population in Hanoi due to more frequent and severe heatwaves through the capacity building of the VNRC in Forecast Based Financing for anticipatory humanitarian actions. The project is funded by the Marga and Walter Boll Foundation, the Volkswagen Foundation, and the German Federal Foreign Office (FFO).

One of the objectives of this project is to raise stakeholders’ awareness for Forecast Based Financing and for Heatwaves in urban context. For this purpose, two key documents (1) “Financing forecast-based early action in Viet Nam” and (2) “Heatwave Guide for cities” have to be translated in Vietnamese.

2. SCOPE OF WORK

Provide translation services from English into Vietnamese for the following documents:

• “Financing forecast-based early action in Viet Nam”
• “Heatwave Guide for cities”

Total number of pages is about 155. This work should be done by 30th September as the latest.

3. QUALIFICATIONS

• University Degree in English
• Excellent written English and Vietnamese skills
• Excellent skills in documents formatting
• Previous experience working with the Red Cross Red Crescent or experience in translation documents related to communication, disaster risk reduction.

4. APPLICATION PROCEDURE
