Expert to Conduct Final Assessment of Project

The Centre for Sustainable Rural Development (SRD) has been implementing the project titled “Supporting Thai ethnic minority communities to adapt to changes from urbanisation” in two villages, Chieng Chung and Chieng Khoang villages, Tuan Giao town, Tuan Giao district, Dien Bien province. The project has received funding from Caritas Australia and is co-implemented by SRD and the Tuan Giao District Project Management Board. The main aim of the project is to improve living conditions and to strengthen social capacity for ethnic minority groups. The project began implementation in July 2011 and will be completed on June 30, 2013. The specific objectives of the project include:

1.Improving Ethnic Minorities’ social and life skills (personal capability) for better participation in the urbanising district;
2.Improving living conditions of poor and marginalised ethnic minority communities by supporting them in upgrading their village cultural houses, as well as ensuring that there is appropriate infrastructure for safe water and hygienic sanitation;
3.Increasing household income by diversifying livelihoods and providing the appropriate technical support; and
4.Disseminating successful lessons and advocating for pro-poor policies in the urbanising district. 

In order to get recommendations and suggestions from outside experts providing interventions, lessons learnt for beneciaries of the project, and experience that SRD can apply into other project areas, SRD is recruiting assessment experts (individuals or organisations) to conduct a final assessment of the project with the following objectives:
1. Assess and review results and interventions of the project achieved in comparison to the plans and objectives stated in the project proposal;
2. Analyse strengths and weaknesses (cause and result analysis, and provide concrete solutions to ensure the sustainability of the project following the project’s completion);
3. Provide recommendations and suggestions to local partners and the project management board who can continue to manage the achievements of the project, from there, SRD can implement the project in other project areas.
