Background / General description:
The World Bank Vietnam Country Office is one of the biggest offices in East Asia and Pacific region (EAP) with more than 120 staff members located in Hanoi and has a large and diverse program. Country operations are decentralized with the Country Director and all Sector Coordination functions located in Hanoi. The Office in Hanoi manages a sizable portfolio of loans, credits, and trust fund grants under the overall leadership of the Country Director supported by project teams and other specialists (Country Team).
The World Bank Vietnam requires an Extended Term Temporary to assist in the in-country activities of the World Bank. This position is to provide accounting related administration supports to the RM-Accounting Unit of World Bank Vietnam Office
The ETT will be based in the World Bank’s Hanoi Office. The appointment, at grade level ET1 for 1 year
Duties and Accountabilities:
- Receipt of incoming documents, e.g. invoices, receipts, and all other payment requests.
- Conduct initial checks, and sort out the documents before being passed on to Senior Accountants.
- Liaison with Transaction processing center in Chennai: scanning documents; sending them to Chennai, and follow-up for payment being processed.
- Writing checks; uploading payment orders in e-Banking; preparing manual bank transfer order.
- Prepare letter of appointment for short-term consultants and temporaries (STC/STT); assist STC/STT on their fee claim on-line, etc.
- Maintain/update staff’s personal cost collection, e.g. telephone, pouch, etc.
- Maintains accounting records and files in accordance with the Bank’s record retention policy, and in a way that will facilitate financial audits.
- Perform other administrative tasks as assigned
Selection Criteria:
- Possess a bachelor degree preferably in accounting, business administration, economics or equivalent training.
- Possess a good level of English proficiency in addition to Vietnamese native language
- Ability to work with high level of focus, accuracy and diligence.
- Knowledge of SAP is preferable
- Minimum 2 years experiences in a relevant field, e.g. Accounting, Finance or Administration.
