Field-based Project Officer in Than Uyen (Lai Chau)

Church World Service (CWS) is an American non-profit organization ( www.cws-asia.org ), working with partners to improve people's lives through awareness raising, building capacity, improving human dignity and rights while respecting their traditions and culture. CWS is currently working with partners at provincial, district and commune levels to work on projects to support the development of safe and hygienic water for children in schools and communities, reducing risks of natural disasters and emergency relief. Our projects are concentrated in Thai Nguyen, Tuyen Quang and Lai Chau provinces.

We are seeking a dynamic individual to fill the position of a field-based Project Officer working 100% of time in Than Uyen district, Lai Chau province, for Water- Sanitation-Hygiene (WASH) project.

Report to: Program Officer
Contract: 2 years with possible extension.

Major duties and responsibilities include to:

• Assist in the effective implementation and monitoring of project activities in accordance with CWS policies and operational standards.
• Directly coordinate with project partners, schools, health stations, communes and villages during project implementation.
• Work directly with partners, and instruct and support them in planning and implementing approved work plans and project activities.
• Participate in surveys, meetings with project beneficiaries to identify their needs and interests as a basis for project activity proposals.
• Visit the project site, meet partners to promote, monitor and evaluate the implementation of project activities (in terms of quality and progress) and collect project stories.
• Support partners to identify and propose initiatives and support the implementation of these initiatives after they are approved.
• Assist in preparing surveys and assessments; participate in project surveys and assessments; assist or work together to collect data and information for project Monitoring and Evaluation database as required by Program Officers.
• Support Financial department to speed up the reporting process and check the expenses of project partners quarterly; participating in annual audit activities.

Requirements:

• Bachelor Degree
• Experience in WASH (e.g. CLTS/SLTS, sanitary latrine, biogas, biosand water filter, trash/garbage management, hygiene education, IEC, etc.) is preferred.
• Experience in development project monitoring and evaluation is preferred
• Ability to work in a team
• Good computer skills in Word, Excel, email, internet
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills
• Organized and detail oriented
• Ability to work 100% of time in Than Uyen district, Lai Chau province.
• Knowledge of English would be an asset, but not essential.

Employment conditions:

• Short-term contract.
• Salary depending on work experience.
• Other benefits in accordance with CWS Vietnam Staff Handbook and Vietnam Labor Law
