This position will manage finances across two sister-organizations who have registration in Viet Nam: Friends for International TB Relief (FIT) and Interactive Research and Development Viet Nam (IRD VN)

FIT is a registered non-profit organization working in the field of TB prevention and care, service delivery, research, technical assistance and advocacy. FIT is a young, dynamic, growing organization. Over the past year, we have grown to over 25 office-based staff, with an additional 300 supervisors and health workers spread across multiple cities in Viet Nam. We work in close collaboration with Provincial and National TB Programmes and other in-country partners to implement projects funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 program, the Stop TB Partnership’s TB REACH initiative, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, UNITAID and Johnson & Johnson. We have also multiple active research partnerships, including with the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine in the UK, the Karolinska Institutet in Sweden, the KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation in the Netherlands, and Ceres Nanosciences and SureAdhere Mobile Technology in the United States. FIT staff have supported the implementation of other TB programs in South and Southeast Asia, and represented Viet Nam at multiple regional and international forums on TB technical assistance. Finally, FIT has represented civil society organizations from Viet Nam at regional events and at multiple events in the lead up to and during the United Nations High Level Meeting on TB in New York City.   • Provide comptrollership functions and oversee all financial operations and direct corporate financial planning and structure;
  • Maintain the Chart of Accounts for FIT and oversee the reconciliation of general ledger accounts;
  • Establish and maintain cash controls, monitor spending and recommend corrective actions as necessary;
  • Coordinate, analyze and report the financial performance to Management (financial performance, projections and other special projects as required);
  • Summarize the organization’s current financial status by collecting information; preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other reports;
  • Manage the payroll system in order to ensure all staff are paid on a timely and accurate basis;
  • Develop, implement and maintain accounting and administrative policies and procedures for a wide-ranging set of activities including financial accounting and reporting, employee relations (hiring/terminating policies) and other policies of the organization;
  • Prepare short and long-term financial forecasts and financial analyses of financial performance for use with internal management and external parties;
  • Prepare budgets to be included in grant applications;
  • Oversee audit functions, coordinate activities with outside audit firms and review FIT’s financial performance;
  • Evaluate the performance of, and provide training and development opportunities for, Finance and Accounting staff;
  • Prepare asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information;
  • Ensure compliance and quality control of financial systems and all transactions according to FIT’s policies;
  • Document financial transactions by entering account information;
  • Substantiate financial transactions by auditing documents;
  • Maintain accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures;
  • Reconcile any financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information and other documentation;
  • Secure financial information by completing data base backups;
  • Interface with staff on pre-award reviews, banking issues, and country office/project start up and financial closeouts;
  • Liaise with international donor agencies for all financial matters;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


  • BS / BA in Accounting or Finance or related field, AND a minimum of 5 years combined experience in accounting / budgeting management;
  • Fluent in Vietnamese;
  • Excellent working knowledge of written and spoken English;
  • Strong computer skills, including familiarity and comfort with using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel;
  • Knowledge of Government and donor funded grants, contracting and auditing standards as they apply to effective management of multi-year funds;
  • Experience with donor management including international funding agencies;
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting, budgeting and fiscal control theory and practices;
  • Budget development skills with multi funding sources and general ledger skills;
  • Relevant software skills to include automated accounting software and database spreadsheets and Management Information Systems;
  • Attention to detail;
  • Good attitude, self-motivated, and ability to work well individually as well as in teams
  • Highly motivated, willing to learn, service-oriented and able to work under high pressure and within a limited time frame.
