Forest Communication Expert

Niras Finland Oy, part of Niras Group (www.niras.com), provides expertise in forestry, natural resources management, rural development, environmental management and sustainable energy. Niras Finland has operated in Vietnam for the past 13 years and has a strong presence in Southeast Asia.
Development of Management Information System for Forestry Sector (FORMIS) project is implemented by the Viet Nam Administration of Forestry (VNFOREST) under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD). FORMIS supports MARD in sector-wide forest governance and management through developing a modern information system from central to local level, in order to provide accurate information for decision making for forestry sector at all levels. The project is funded by the Government of Finland, the Trust Fund for Forests (TFF) and the Government of Vietnam. Niras Finland Oy as a lead consultant, in collaboration with GFA and GreenField Consulting & Development, provides technical assistance services for the project.
Niras Finland Oy is now seeking a Local Forest Communication Expert (4 months). The objectives for this consultancy are:
1. to support the development of content to the Vietnam Forest Information Portal
2. to support the communication on the objectives and outputs from FORMIS project.
The main tasks include:  (1) Writing a plan for content management, (2) Portal content design, (3) Coordination and planning, (4) Creating and acquiring content for the portal, (5) Creating and editing multimedia content, (6) Proof-reading and editing material from content contributors, (7) Moderation of forums and chats, (8) Website promotion, (9) Cooperation with other experts, and (10) Public relations.

Qualifications:
At least BSc in Media & Communications or other related interdisciplinary field.
At least 5 years professional work experience
A long work experience in information and communication may be considered in lieu of relevant formal education.
Editorial experience, excellent writing and editing skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to organize and motivate others
Proficiency in Vietnamese and English languages (spoken and written).

Secondary requirements for skills:
Experience with content management systems, graphic editing and graphic design, multimedia editing, photography, requirement specification and/or project management would be an added advantage.
Familiarity of Vietnamese forestry sector considered an asset
