We are looking for a WWF-Greater Mekong - Forest Intelligence Intern, based in Cambodia or Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand, Viet Nam.

The Forest Intelligence Intern will assist with the works related to the development of the Forest Intelligence Unit for the WWF Greater Mekong Forest Program (GMFP). In collaboration with Country Offices, s/he will provide support to the IKEA-WWF Partnership and GMFP to aid in achieving the objectives in relation to the WWF goals stated above.

Major Duties:

  • Liaise with internal WWF officers and potentially key external stakeholders active in forest monitoring in the Greater Mekong region for the sharing of relevant information related to forest intelligence work
  • Organise and manage regional data, including data related to forest monitoring, received from both internal and external parties in online databases
  • Perform data collection, preparation and/or processing tasks including but not limited to: online data exploration, processing in Microsoft and/or ArcGIS, and data visualisation
  • Support forest conservation intelligence work for the IKEA-WWF Partnership project and for deliverables under the related project outcomes.
  • Support the production of data visualisations and/or other related materials, including maps, necessary for presenting Forest Intelligence outputs to key external stakeholders
  • Support the visualization and understanding of forest data and trends, using appropriate tools such as GLOBIL and infographics.

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master of Science in Forestry, Conservation, Natural Resources, Environmental Studies, Development Studies or similar curricula that includes Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or
  • In 3rd or 4th year of university-level degree in fields as outlined above may also be accepted
  • Additional degree or certification in GIS or remote sensing is a plus.
  • Understanding of forest and conservation issues in the Greater Mekong region.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English is a must.
