Forest Programme Manager

Want to make a positive difference to the future of people and our one shared home - the Earth? Working at WWF could be your opportunity of a lifetime.

All around the world, people are waking up to the deepening crisis of nature loss. A growing realization that nature is our life-support system. And that nobody will be spared from the impacts of its loss. Here at WWF, we are helping to tackle this enormous global challenge.

Our people come from hugely diverse backgrounds and with a variety of expertise, ranging from HR and finance to advocacy and conservation science. We welcome applications from anyone who believes they can help us create a better future for people and wildlife.

What we do

We are an independent conservation organization, striving to sustain the natural world for the benefit of people and wildlife. From individuals and communities to business and government, we are part of a growing coalition calling on world leaders to set nature on the path to recovery by 2030. Together, we seek to protect and restore natural habitats, stop the mass extinction of wildlife, and make the way we produce and consume sustainably.

Myanmar is a spectacularly diverse country and a melting pot of biological and socio-cultural diversity. After a decade of reforms and only five years since the first democratic elections, Myanmar is on an economic development pathway in which the decisions being made now will determine the future of its natural assets.  WWF’s vision for Myanmar is that “Myanmar is a global inspiration on conservation excellence and innovation where nature is cherished, respected, protected and connects with all who call it home.”

WWF Myanmar has identified two priority landscapes under its new Country Programme (2020-2025), namely the: Dawna Tennasserim Landscape (DTL) and the Ayeyarwady River Basin Landscape (ARL), both of which host iconic species such as tiger, elephant, and the Irrawaddy Dolphin among the most notable ones.

We are looking for a Forest Programme Manager to take charge of managing the forest programme of WWF Myanmar. In this capacity, s/he will have the oversight and leading functions for all WWF’s forest-related work. The programme manager is expected to contribute 80% of her (his) time to the DTL landscape and remaining 20% to the ARL landscape.

To be a good fit, you should have:

  • Master’s degree in natural resources management, forest conservation and management, environmental or conservation management, bioregional planning, development studies, or in relevant fields.
  • 5 years of practical and relevant experience in leading and managing programmes or projects
