CCF Independent Contractor Job Specification
SE Asia - Vietnam & Thailand

I. Position

The Chantecaille Conservation Foundation is seeking to retain an independent contractor to represent and advance the conservation mission of the Foundation in Vietnam and Thailand.

II. Experience/Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following characteristic/qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 year’s work experience within the field of conservation.
  • Ideally known to or has experience in working with source of referral
  • Either Vietnamese or Thai citizen and resident in one of the two countries.
  • Fluent in local language(s) and English.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
  • Must be a true self-starter and able to function effectively without daily oversight.
  • Strong work ethic and demonstrated history of commitment to conservation.
  • Highest standards of ethics, conduct, reliability and responsibility

III. Primary Responsibilities

The CCF SE Asia independent contractor will be responsible for:

  • Acting as CCF’s local market representative and serving as our primary point of contact with respect to all foundation activities in SE Asia.
  • Helping develop, guide and implement the stated conservation objectives of the foundation in the region
  • Frequent communications, visits and in-person interaction with NGO partners
  • Developing productive, efficient and effective working relationships with our NGO partners as well as local governmental organizations, community leaders, suppliers, vendors etc...
  • Building CCF’s network and conservation relationships needed to further the foundation’s mission within SE Asia
  • Working with NGO's to plan the strategy for and manage all aspects of our jointly created conservation programming
  • Overseeing all CCF expenditures as detailed within the Shared Services Agreements between the CCF and NGO partners
  • Gathering and reviewing invoices related to CCF expenditures and submitting to CCF project leaders and CCF accounting for payment on a monthly basis
  • Confirming, documenting and updating CCF project leaders on receipt of goods/services purchased by CCF, with monthly tracking reports
  • General update calls with CCF project leaders on a bi-weekly basis to provide status updates and address issues/obstacles.
  • Preparing quarterly written updates for the CCF Board on programming activities
  • Reporting opportunities for potential new programs, monitoring trends, best practices, government actions and legislation impacting our areas of focus and the conservation work of the CCF and our NGO partners
  • Assisting in the development of new strategic collaborations that enhance the effectiveness and/or reach of CCF’s conservation mission, including networking with local community leaders and NGO’s that seek to promote wildlife conservation
  • Maintaining standards of excellence for all programs, ensuring and maximum conservation impact of CCF funding provided.

IV. Requirements:

  • Time commitment – 2 to 4 full time workdays per week (16-32 hrs).
  • Acceptable to be working with other NGO’s in addition to CCF subject to approval and conflicts clearance
  • 5 references from past employers and/or work relationships.

V. Compensation

  • Commensurate with local market compensation for similar roles
  • Also dependent on key variables (eg. number of CCF dedicated workdays per week, conservation related education qualifications, years of work experience etc)
