Working in Vietnam since the early 1980s, PATH established a permanent office in Hanoi in 1997, and an office in Ho Chi Minh City in 2014.

The UK Government established the Fleming Fund (FF) to respond to the global threat of antimicrobial resistance (AMR). The FF is a One Health initiative to fight AMR in low- and middle-income countries. The goal of the FF is to avert the human and economic burden of AMR. Under this project, PATH supports the Government of Vietnam to strengthen and scale up quality AMR and antimicrobial use (AMU) surveillance activities, inform national policy to reduce AMR, and improve collection and quality of AMU data.

PATH is currently recruiting for the local internship based at PATH office in Hanoi to support the Fleming Fund Viet Nam project. The internship will work under the management of Health Information Systems Team Leader.

Description of the project the Intern will complete:

Brief description of required skills/experience the intern should possess:

  • Bachelor of Computer Science or Information Technology (Degree from Hanoi University of Science & Technology (HUST) or University of Engineering and Technology – Viet Nam National University is preferred)
  • Good knowledge of software engineering and emergent technologies.
  • Professional help desk or technical support skills
  • Fluent English in communication and writing

Skills to be developed and/or expanded during internship:

  • The ability to communicate technical information to audiences
  • Database administration skills
  • Analytical skills

Proposed activities:

  • Assist the Project Coordinator to provide information systems support to the implementation of Laboratory Information System (LIS) in 19 project hospitals
  • Provide technical assistance in installation and maintenance of the software WHONET for human health and animal health laboratories in project sites;
  • Support the development and maintenance of AMR portals for human health and animal health.
  • Review the existing surveillance health information systems and provide reports as requested
  • Other tasks as required by Supervisor.

Candidates must currently have legal authorization to work in Vietnam.
