Internship Opportunity

The Swiss Red Cross (SRC) is a member of the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies; it is part of a worldwide network of 188 National Societies. We work in Vietnam in strict collaboration with the Vietnamese Red Cross particularly on rural development, disaster mitigation/preparedness for preventing and alleviating human suffering.

The Swiss Red Cross has an office in the Capital of Hanoi in charge of coordination aspects with the Vietnamese Red Cross, the wider Red Cross Movement in Vietnam, and other DRR stakeholders.

Since 2010 we are working in the village of Ho Gui – in the Nam Can district of the Ca Mau Province – starting and developing a Cooperative model for increasing businesses and income of families in the village.

The Intern will be working together with four employees of the Cooperative aiming to develop strategies to scale up activities and also strengthening management systems. Our objective is to increase the activities of the Cooperative in Ho Gui in order to increase inhabitants monthly income.

Do you have good understanding on how to create market access for farmers? Have you ideas on how to develop strategies to scale up social enterprise’s activity? We are currently looking for a talented, dynamic, and motivated intern to be based in the village of Ho Gui and support the development of the Cooperative.

Job description – Internship

Title: Intern
Reference: 3 or 6 months contract (based in Hogui - Nam Can District - Ca Mau Province).
Supervisor: Field Project Officer
Starting from: 1st August 2013

1.Overall Responsibilities
- Support the employees of the Cooperative in Ho Gui to strengthen their capacity in management, planning, implementing, and monitoring the achievements.
- Support the employees of thee Cooperative in Ho Gui to seek, invest, and develop new businesses ideas to increase the income of most poor families of the village.

2.Qualifications & Skills
- University Degree (preferably Master) in field related to marketing and business development.
- Knowledge in conducting market research, developing business, planning, marketing, and business risk analysis.
- Experience related to cooperative development and/or community development – preferable.
- Proficiency in English and Vietnamese (both oral and written).
- Good sense of responsibility, proactive, and very careful to details.
- Strong Team work, communication, and interpersonal capacities.
- Constructive mindset, ability to foresee risks and propose innovative and practical solutions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Flexibility and strong capacity to adapt to new environments.
- Commitment to values and principles of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
