Market Acceleration of Advanced Clean Cook Stoves for the Greater Mekong Sub-region (ACCS project)
(5 months)

SNV has been working in Vietnam since 1995. Using market based approaches, SNV is committed to reducing poverty by catalysing environmentally sustainable solutions for the poor in agriculture, energy, water & sanitation, and Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD+).

The 'Market Acceleration of Advanced Clean Cook Stoves in the Greater Mekong Sub-region" project is implemented by GIZ and SNV under the global multi-donor Energising Development (EnDev) partnership. It aims to start a sustainable market for clean smokeless cook stoves through the sales of 120,000 devices in Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam during 2015-2019. The project employs an innovative Results Based Finance (RBF) scheme that strengthens the involvement of supply chain actors in the nascent market of advanced clean cook stoves.

We are seeking an Intern to support the ACCS project in the implementation of the specific research: “Targeted Approaches on the Adoption of Advanced Cook Stoves”. The Intern will be based in Hanoi with frequent travels to project sites.

Nature of work

The intern will work closely with project team in the research activities, provide support hands-on work, with the data collection process during the field visits, as well as to provide appropriate translation of documents and reports between Vietnamese and English.

Throughout this specific research, you will be supporting Project Team as well as in conducting questionnaires during household visits and gather valuable and insightful information from clean cook stove users during each of the focus groups. Coupled to this, you will be expected to support and elaborate transcripts of each of the focus group sessions held and provide accurate English translations of them.

In addition, you will be expected to provide additional support that the team might require throughout the project.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct questionnaires and learn how to use the Akvo Flow platform to upload and manage the data acquired
• Assist during the focus group sessions by taking notes of the discussion and elaborate the transcripts from the taped sessions both in Vietnamese and English.
• Support the Project Team adequately to requirements on needs-basis

Requirements

• Very strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Vietnamese
• Experience in conducting field work is preferred
• Proactive and independent
• Open to university students

Contract Period: 5 months (April – August 2018)
Start Date: 02 April 2018
