Junior Advisor Renewable Energy

SNV Vietnam is seeking a Junior Advisor Renewable Energy, based in Hanoi, Vietnam. The position is subject to donor approval of this project.

SNV has been working in Vietnam since 1995. Using market based approaches, SNV is committed to reducing poverty by catalyzing environmentally sustainable solutions for the poor in agriculture, energy, water & sanitation, and REDD+ (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation).

SNV has, in a consortium with Winrock International, won a competitive process to implement the Vietnam Clean Energy Program (VCEP) funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). SNV requires a Junior Advisor Renewable Energy and invites interested Vietnamese professionals who comply with the profile describe bellow to submit their CV and application letter.

Responsibilities

The Renewable Energy (RE) Advisor will work in a small team on one the defined tasks of the Program and will provide his or her services to all RE aspects of the project. Working with the Task Leader this will include but not be limited to: resource assessments and market surveys; identification of RE opportunities and development of a project pipeline; establishment of database and data tracking tools; explore and/or develop potential funding opportunities for RE projects in Vietnam; identify potential pilot projects to support under VCEP; support on the analysis of existing renewable energy and energy sector investment policies; and organisation and contribution at industry meetings and events.

This assignment will mainly involve medium and small scale RE technologies including, but not limited to, bioenergy, solar, wind and hydropower. Pilots will focus on off-grid and small-scale solutions.

The RE Advisor will support the day-to-day administration of RE related activities to ensure project outcomes are achieved in-line with the project plan and budget. Team work and collaboration with SNV staff and external stakeholders will be a very important element of this role.

Candidate profile

- Vietnamese citizen
- University degree in engineering, energy or related field
- At least 3 years of relevant work experience, but 5 years preferred.
- Experience in project management/administration or equivalent roles preferably with experience working with an international development organisation.
- Experience establishing good working relationships with diverse stakeholders
- Experience in the RE sector Broad based renewable energy technical knowledge
- Extensive network in the RE sector in Vietnam
- Proficient skills in report writing and general written communication
- Good team worker with a positive outlook and can do attitude
- Good training/capacity building skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills in English (spoken & written)
- Computer proficiency in Windows and Office based programs

Contract Duration: on-year associate consultancy contract contingent on funding with a possibility of extension for further 2 years.
