Junior PR/Coms Officer “Green Cluster”

As a federal enterprise, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH supports the German Government in achieving its objectives in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development. On behalf of the German Government, GIZ currently provides advisory services to the Government of Viet Nam in three priority areas: Vocational training, Environmental policy and sustainable use of natural resources, and Energy. The priority area Environmental policy and sustainable use of natural resources is covered by the “GIZ Green Cluster”. The Green cluster currently comprises a total of five teams in the thematic areas of climate policy, coast and water, agriculture, biodiversity and forests and regional economic integration. The thematic area “biodiversity and forests” includes the projects “Support to the implementation of the FLEGT VPA” and “Sustainable Forest Management”. The projects are implemented together with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) and its Department of Forestry (VNFOREST). Viet Nam is one of the biggest exporters of timber products and has committed to maintaining its current forest cover of 42%. The two sister projects will contribute to achieving Vietnam's greenhouse gas emissions reduction commitments under the Paris Agreement and promote green economic growth through sourcing and trade in legal timber.

The cluster requires a qualified local candidate for the position of:

 Junior PR/Coms Officer “Green Cluster”

Duty station: Hanoi, Viet Nam

Duration: ASAP until 30. September 2024

 

Main responsibilities:

  • Supporting the PR/Communication work of the unit “forestry and biodiversity” with the different projects in the areas of biodiversity conservation, sustainable forest management and forest governance
  • Ensuring cooperate branding of implementation, focusing on the relevance of information and formats of information to different target audiences in English and Vietnamese
  • Ensuring regular (social) media updates, monitoring and systematic filing of posts / publications
  • Following up on the production of communication materials
  • Ensuring full compliance of all PR/Communication related activities with GIZ rules, regulations, policies and strategies
  • Following up on other tasks as assigned

Minimum requirements:

  • University degree in media, communication, marketing or similar
  • Certificates for courses in using graphic design software
  • Two years working experience in different aspects of communication, e.g. development of target-group oriented communication material (printed and multimedia), corporate branding, event organizations, social media
  • Preferably with working experience abroad
  • Initial experience in international and technical development cooperation relating to natural resource management, forestry, biodiversity conservation or environmental education
  • Working experience use graphic design software and/or film editing software (e.g. Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Lightroom and others)
  • Creative thinking and excellent communication skills
  • Very strong English & Vietnamese writing skills
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Willing to take on responsibility, work independently and travel to project sites for work if necessary
  • Willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management
  • Constructive team player in multi-cultural environment
  • Experience in an intercultural and multi-lingual context gained by way of internships and/or academic exchanges is preferred
