Legal Expert

1.Background

SNV Netherlands Development Organisation, as a result of an international competitive commercial tender, has been selected by the UK Department for International Development (DFID) as the Fund Manager to run the Vietnam Business Challenge Fund (VBCF) from September 2012 until the end of 2015. The overall purpose of VBCF is to support the private sector in Vietnam to develop innovative Inclusive Business models that deliver both commercial benefits for the private sector and developmental benefits for poor people, in terms of job creation, income improvements and availability of more affordable goods and services.

VBCF will provide business mentoring support and award non-reimbursable funding of selected proposal budgets to companies operating in Vietnam through competitive calls for relevant business proposals that will handle the market challenges innovatively, benefit the poor and be commercially sustainable and replicable in the long run. Funding is available for up to USD 800,000 per project for proposals in three sectors – agriculture, low-carbon growth and infrastructure and basic services.
VBCF is seeking for an experienced legal expert to provide legal advice and assistance to the VBCF team during negotiation process with Companies.

2.Scope of Work

The legal expert will:
- Draft the Template of the Contract to be signed by the VBCF and companies (in both languages English and Vietnamese)
- Advise the VBCF Team on demand during the negotiation process with the companies (Approx. 10 days)
- Advise the VBCF Team on demand regarding other tax, financial and legal issues (Approx. 5 days)

3.Qualifications

- Vietnamese citizenship
- Having a bachelor’s degree or higher in Law, Corporate Law and Business (preferred)
- Working experience of at least 5 years or more;
- Proven experience related to economic contracts, funding contracts (between banks/financial institutions and private sector)
- Knowledge and experience on tax and financial regulation in Vietnam
- Exposure to the development sector is an asset
- Having skills of assessment, reporting; good communication and presentation skills in both English and Vietnamese;
- Being committed to meet deadlines

4.Timing

Sending CV and related certifications/degrees: May 31st, 2013
CV screening by VBCF: June 12th, 2013
Contracting: June 19th, 2013
End of contract: September 30th, 2013                                    

5.Remuneration

The maximum rate to hire the required the legal services is 206 USD/Day.
