Locally Engaged Decision Maker (LED)

The Australian Embassy is seeking applications from citizens of Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the US or UK to fill three Locally Engaged Decision Maker (LED) positions working within its Immigration and Citizenship Section in Hanoi. Two positions are fulltime, and one is part-time (up to 3 days per week). One of the fulltime and the part-time position involve processing of migration visa applications. The other fulltime position involves processing in Hanoi of visa applications lodged in Vientiane by Lao citizens.

Contracts will be offered for 12 months duration to successful applicants, renewable by mutual consent and satisfactory performance review. The merit list drawn up from this recruitment exercise may be used for the purpose of offering part-time or full-time positions in the future should the need arise. 

A strong preference will be given to applicants with visa processing experience or experience in administrative decision-making involving clients. Applicants must be fluent in English. Vietnamese and/or Lao language skills will be valued, but are not essential.  Note – it is a requirement for appointment to the position that successful applicants hold or are able to obtain a Protected security clearance.

Applicants not resident in Vietnam should also note that if they are offered the position they will be responsible for their travel and removal of personal effects to Hanoi, along with accommodation. Applicants will also be responsible for ensuring they have the appropriate permission to work in Vietnam.

A competitive salary will be offered to successful applicants.
