Medical Equipment Engineer/Technician

The Project VIE/027 receiving financial support from the Governments of Viet Nam and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, launches a call for engagement of two qualified medical equipment engineers/technicians for the acquisition of services for supervision of equipment handover, installation, commissioning and training to end-user at Cao Bang and Bac Kan.  

Scope of work:

The Project will procure necessary medical equipment to selected communes in Cao Bang and Bac Kan. Those equipments will be provided to 47 communes in Bac Kan and 55 communes in Cao Bang with aim to strengthen the clinical skills and competencies of commune level health staff.

Responsibilities:

The main responsibilities of the medical equipment engineers/technicians are as follows:

  • Work closely and cooperate with the contractor(s) for the plan of delivery and visit.
  • The bio-medical engineers will travel to 55 communes in Cao Bang and 47 communes in Bac Kan to supervise the handover of equipment.  
  • Ensure end-user to be trained on the use and maintenance of equipment properly
  • Ensure documents (handover minutes, provisional acceptance, final acceptance) are signed by concern parties.
  • The bio-medical engineers will assist the project in designing and implementing required forms such as check list, inventory, user guideline stick-note… for each CHC.

Education, Experience and Skill required:

  • University degree in bio-medical, electronics, electrical, mechanical or similar engineering discipline; or diploma in medical equipment repair, or similar technical subject.
  • Medical equipment engineering or equivalent combination of training and hands-on experience in the health/medical sector;
  • Five years’ experience in equipment maintenance and installation and or supervision of medical equipment installation;
  • Good communication skills in English and Vietnamese.
  • Detail oriented and good ability to interpret manufacturer’s specifications and training instructions.
  • Able to produce good quality reports in English and Vietnamese.
  • Well-proven organizational, analytical and implementation skills;
  • Possess good driving record and ability to travel in rural and mountainous areas.

Employment period:

Employment period for these 2 positions are:

  • Cao Bang: 4 months
  • Bac Kan: 3 months

The start of the contract is foreseen in February 2014. Selected candidates will be available to carry out the required work in Hanoi, Cao Bang and Bac Kan provinces.
