National Intern

VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

As a federal enterprise, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH supports the German Government in achieving its objectives in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development. We work in a variety of fields and support our cooperation partners in designing strategies and meeting their policy goals. GIZ Viet Nam is currently engaged in three priority areas: 1) Vocational training; 2) Environmental policy and sustainable natural resource use; 3) Energy. For further information please visit our website: www.giz.de/viet-nam.

Vietnam is one of the economically fastest growing countries in Southeast Asia, which is also reflected in its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. In 2000 they were at 150 MtCO 2 -eq, grew up to 252 MtCO 2 -eq by 2010 and were at 284 MtCO 2 -eq in 2014. Forecasts in Viet Nam’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) state  an increase to nearly 800 MtCO 2 -eq by 2030, if no additional measures were taken. At the same time, Viet Nam as a country with an elongated coastal line is strongly exposed to risks and dangers of climate change. Against this background, the Vietnamese government follows a constructive approach in international climate policy and conducts its own appropriate measures, captured in its NDC and the Plan for Implementation of the Paris Agreement (PIPA).

The GIZ Project “Support to Vietnam for the Implementation of the Paris Agreement”, SIPA, is jointly implemented with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE). The Project primarily works in the following areas: (1) Capacity-building on NDC development and implementation; (2) Strengthening the institutional framework for the Paris Agreement implementation and enshrining the NDC in sectoral strategies of key line ministries; (3) Conducting selected adaptation activities from the PIPA in two pilot provinces; (4) Developing five Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs); (5)Coordinating and strengthening Climate change response activities from projects in Viet Nam funded by the International Climate Initiative (IKI).

The Project is looking for a local qualified candidate to fill the following position:
