INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY

GIZ implements the project “Promote and Pilot a Public Bike-Sharing (PBS) Scheme in Vietnam towards Sustainable Urban Mobility and Smart Cities”, which is financed by the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The project is implemented under a public private partnership agreement (DeveloPPP) in cooperation with Vietsoftpro.

The DeveloPPP PBS project works under the umbrella of the GIZ project “Support to Vietnam for the Implementation of the Paris Agreement” (VN-SIPA), which support the Government of Viet Nam in establishing the framework conditions to implement the NDC and the Paris Agreement on climate change. The DeveloPPP PBS project is offering an internship opportunity with details below.

National Intern
Station: Hanoi
Duration: 6 months starting from April 15, 2023

Main activities:

The Intern will learn and practice to perform the specific tasks by supporting the project team in following activities:

  • Assist the project team in the elaboration of ideas/concepts, data collection, desk research, drafting invitations, reports, and contact with key stakeholders where relevant;
  • Support quality assurance in technical activities and deliverables of the consultant contracts, particularly under the action area “bike tour design”, “PBS scheme management”, “bike transportation development plan”, etc. where relevant;
  • Support other project activities under other action areas, as required;
  • Provide ad hoc support to document/data review/checking and verification;
  • Provide assistance to internal meetings and discussions (e.g., agenda, protocol preparation, equipment setup, minute meeting notes);
  • • Provide translation services when needed (between English and Vietnamese);
  • Support to the preparation of workshops, trainings, field visit, study tour, communication activities and other events, e.g., Active Mobility Week in Hue;
  • Support review and research on gender issue, private sector engagement under guidance of Senior Project Officer (SPO) and Junior Project Officer (JPO);
  • Perform other duties and tasks at the request of management.

Requirements:

  • Vietnamese nationality.
  • Available to work in Hanoi for a full-time position from 3 to 6-months duration.
  • Currently undertaking or has recently completed postgraduate/bachelor studies in international relation, business management, finance, climate change policy, climate change mitigation or related field.
  • Interest in the climate change mitigation and related issues.
  • Previous experience working constructively in a team setting (be it an official or intern position) is an asset.
  • Good oral and written communication skills in English and Vietnamese; study in international environment will be an advantage.
  • Strong MS Office, organizational and analytical skills.
  • Highly motivated to learn and to contribute to a young and dynamic team of international and national staff with the aim to sustainable development and climate change mitigation in Viet Nam.
  • Ability to work very precisely and flexibly; Able to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks.
  • Willing to take on responsibility and undertake travel to project sites for work if necessary.
  • The internship requires university enrolment or the finalization of your degree no longer than six months ago upon commencement of the internship.
  • Graduated or last year student of the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam (DAV), Foreign Trade University (FTU), Royal Melbourle Institute of Technology (RMIT) will be an advantage.
