The ILO Office in Vietnam invites applications for the positions below:

Under the ILO Flagship Programme on OSH Global Action for Prevention, a U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL) funded project “Building a Generation of Safe and Healthy Workers: Safe & Healthy Youth”is being implemented. The Project’s Strategic Objective is to increase the capacity of countries to address occupational safety and health at work, with particular attention to the occupational safety and health of working youth and young adults. As one component of the global project, a pilot project on safe and healthy youth at work is being implemented in Viet Nam. This pilot project has as its primary objective the development of innovative means of addressing workplace safety and health systems, policies, and interventions. The pilot project will specifically address OSH challenges in hazardous sectors with special attention to working youth. The project will include efforts to build and strengthen national laws, policies, and regulations; the capacity of labour inspectorates; and partnerships among national and local stakeholders, to support the development of a culture of safety and health at work and enhanced capacity to develop and implement compliance strategies that include prevention, enforcement, and assistance to reduce work-related injuries and diseases with a focus on working youth in Viet Nam.

As a pilot country, Viet Nam will serve as a laboratory for the development of innovative interventions and as a potential model for replication in other countries and/or regions. In addition, the project will establish the foundation for and provide support to the ILO Flagship Programme on OSH Global Action for Prevention to improve safety and health at work globally.

The National Project Coordinator (NPC) will work under the direct supervision of the ILO Country Office Director, and will report to the Chief Technical Advisor (CTA) of the USDOL-funded Project based at ILO HQ in Geneva. S/he will also work in close collaboration with the Senior Specialist on OSH in the Decent Work Team based in Bangkok.

The NPC is responsible for project administration and implementation of all project activities. S/he will work closely with project partners to implement the project activities. S/he should be familiar with ILO standards, policies and programmes on labour administration, labour inspection and OSH in order to better understand the requirements of the project and direct in-country project activities.
