Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA) is an Oslo-based Humanitarian organization working in the field of Mine Action. We have operated in Vietnam since 2007 with Representative office and projects in Hanoi, Hue, Quang Tri and Quang Binh. We are seeking for qualified, enthusiastic, experienced Vietnamese applicants for 10 fulltime Non-technical Surveyors (NTS) working for NPA Quang Binh project, in Dong Hoi city.

 

Main function:

To conduct mine action Non-Technical Surveys (NTS) and Impact Assessments (IA) under the management and supervision of the NTS/IA Team Leader (TL) and / or other line manager, ensuring adherence to NPA’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) at all times.

 

Scope and Responsibilities:

NTS Surveyor’s role involves working directly in areas contaminated by cluster munitions and other unexploded ordnance (UXO). This is a high-risk position that requires precision, vigilance, and strict compliance with safety protocols while performing the following tasks:

  1. Survey Data Collection and Reporting
  • Accurately collect and report survey data in context of Cluster Munitions Remnants Survey (CMRS) and Impact assessment.
  • Conduct interviews with local populations to gather critical information about suspected hazardous areas (SHAs) and explosive items.
  • Interview and engage with local populations to identify and document explosive items and contamination indicators.
  1. Equipment Use and Maintenance
  • Operate and maintain assigned equipment as per operational manuals and instructions.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or damage to the NTS/IA TL immediately.
  1. Compliance and Safety
  • Follow all NPA SOPs rigorously and report any breaches to the NTS/IA TL without delay.
  • Implement instructions and guidance provided by the NTS/IA TL to maintain operational safety and efficiency.
  1. Capacity Building and Training
  • Participate in internal training and capacity-building sessions to enhance knowledge and skills relevant to NTS/IA operations. 
  1. Additional Duties
  • Perform any additional tasks assigned by the immediate supervisor or senior management to support overall mission objectives.

 

Required qualifications – experience:

  • Degree in social work, community activities, humanitarian work or others.
  • Encourage and appreciate participation individuals who do not meet the degree requirements but have outstanding experience and skills in communication, teamwork, social activities, community activities, survey activities/projects, etc.
  • Basic computer and Microsoft office skills.
  • Have good communication, interpersonal and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work in team and independently to meet deadlines.
  • A desire and being fit for outdoor activities.
  • Having relevant, localized knowledge specific to the typical EO hazards within and near the community in order to safely discharge the Specific Duties listed above is an advantage.
  • Basic map reading and drawing skills are preferred.
  • Driving license Level B2/C/D/E is preferred.
