Employment Opportunity for a Nurse Assistant

To be based in Ho Chi Minh City:

Major Duties: Under the overall guidance of the Chief Migration Health Physician and direct supervision of the Head Nurse, the Nurse Assistant will be responsible for Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) sampling activities, controlling the supplies of Tuberculosis (TB) treatment drugs, keeping records of Health Assessment Programme (HAP) and on-going TB treatment. Particularly the Nurse Assistant will:

  • Perform pre-embarkation medical checks;
  • Maintain inventory of TB drugs and controls their distribution at TB treatment sites;
  • Collect blood or buccal swab specimens for DNA testing;
  • Escort medical cases to final destination as assigned;
  • Ensure data is entered properly into TB program database, including case registration form, smear/culture follow-up form and weekly monitoring sheet for TB cases from the TB laboratory and Direct Observation Treatment (DOT) centre;
  • Ensure documents for TB cases who have stopped treatment are completed;
  • Prepare files of migrants on treatment for multi-drug resistant TB and schedule monthly monitoring meetings with the TB treating doctor at the DOT centre;
  • Follow up and verify invoices from the laboratories and the DOT centre regarding medicals/tests for IOM migrants;
  • Maintain, update and submit regular HAP statistics;
  • Maintains integrity, high quality and client-friendly services;
  • Maintains professionalism at all times;
  • Performs such other related duties that may be assigned.

Education/Experience Required:

  • Degree in Nursing; At least four years of work experience in a similar setting and capacity; Working with procedures; Demonstrated ability to maintain accuracy, confidentiality and integrity in performing responsibilities; Good communication, organizational and planning skills.  Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access). Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues from varied cultural and professional backgrounds.
