Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Engineer

Project VIE/034 receiving financial support from the Governments of Viet Nam and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg seeks to employ a building operations and maintenance engineer.

Position Description

The O&M engineer is a qualified civil engineer/architect and will be responsible for the following project measures:

• Rehabilitation, extension and construction of essential annexes to existing and new buildings (e.g. toilets, workshops, laboratories and classrooms) and complementary facilities (e.g. storage, sanitary, dormitory and sports facilities), based on identified needs.
• This position is located in Bac Kan Town, Project Office VIE/034, Bac Kan Vocational College. The project provides support to the College management, among other tasks, in areas related to campus space management, coordination for construction, and design, and commissioning/consolidation activities, including establishing of a buildings and grounds maintenance program.

Qualifications and skills

• Bachelor’s  level in Civil Engineering / Architecture (Masters preferred);
• Experience in building projects and O&M activities;
• Flexibility to adapt to a dynamic environment, without losing sight of the objectives;
• Good command of written and spoken English and Vietnamese;
• Full computer literacy, including relevant programmes.

Professional experience

• At least 5 years of employment experience in construction projects, O&M activities;
• Proven ability to carry out and manage detailed planning, tendering and supervision of projects;
• Being familiar with the Vietnamese government planning and approval processes.
• Knowledge of structures and services-related planning requirements of TVET institutions/schools and workshops and related facilities is an added advantage.
• The start of the employment contract is foreseen immediately and for a duration of 12 months. Remuneration based on a combination of competency factors is market competitive for such appointments.
