Policy Manager

WWF was one of the first International non-government organizations working in Vietnam. In 1985, WWF began working on a national conservation strategy and since then has worked closely with the Vietnamese Government on a diverse range of environment issues and implemented field activities across the country.

We are currently seeking for well-qualified and experienced candidate for full-time  position POLICY MANAGER (base in Hanoi Office)

Main responsibilities:

The Policy Manager is responsible for providing leadership and coordination for the national, and where required regional, advocacy work for WWF-Vietnam; providing technical foundation for WWF-Vietnam’s policy work, with priority areas including illegal wildlife trade, energy and hydropower development; developing strategies that allow WWF-Vietnam to influence the rules, procedures and actions of government, the private sector, and relevant regional and international institutions; building up relationships with Government partners, engaging with key national institutions to ensure that WWFVietnam is known, respected and influential in key fora.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Advanced degree or equivalent work experience in relevant discipline like environmental policy, environmental law, environment and development or natural resources management;
  • At least 10 years of relevant professional policy experience in conservation, environment and development work, at least 2 years of which spent in Vietnam and including close engagement and advocacy with Government;
  • In depth understanding of national and regional environmental, natural resources, and geopolitical governance.
  • Proven experience in developing and writing policies, designing and delivering advocacy strategies and project proposals.

  • Good presentation & interpersonal skills
  • Project management skills
  • Demonstrable management, leadership and supervisory skills; ability to mentor and develop teams
  • Proposal Development & Report writing skills
  • Experience working with governments, corporate sector, aid agencies, civil society, and NGOs
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in Vietnamese and English
