PR cum Communication Officer

The project ‘Technical Vocation Education and Training (TVET) for Skilled Workers in the Wastewater Sector’ under the Vietnamese – German Cooperation Programme Reform of TVET in Viet Nam (GIZ) (http://www.tvet-vietnam.org/en/topic/21.components.html) is looking for a highly motivated and qualified Vietnamese national officer to join its team as PR cum Communication Officer

Duty station: District 9, Ho Chi Minh City

What You Will Do

  • Develop and implement plans for promoting vocational training in wastewater sector which are set within a context of an PR strategy agreed by relevant stakeholders in the project
  • Be in charge of production of project publications, especially articles for the project’s website and newsletters (in Vietnamese and English) including writing, taking picture, layouting, editing and publishing
  • Be in charge of media relation and press work of the project including writing press release, organise events with participation of media, maintaining the relations with media, producing press kits and maintaining a contact database with national mass media organisations
  • Actively contribute to the project’s capacity building initiatives including classroom-based training activities for improvement purposes, working sessions, meetings and workshops;
  • Provide appropriate support for national and international experts (long term and short term) within the project.
  • Other duties as required by the team leader.

Where are you good at:

  • University degree in Public Relations/Media & Communications, Marketing/Business Administration and a minimum of 3 years of professional experience
  • Excellent Vietnamese and English language skills: spoken and written
  • Experience in textual work (write and edit texts in English and Vietnamese for different target groups and target goals), taking picture and picture treatment
  • Strong verbal communication and networking skills for articulating ideas and plans to colleagues and partner organisations as well as media representatives
  • Ability to coordinate and supervise events and small projects
  • Ability to plan, execute and monitoring results of PR measurements. Knowledge of
  • Development Cooperation, insights of environmental sector/TVET is advantageous
  • Experience in the field of media to understand the work of journalists and cooperate with them.
  • Knowledge in layout softwares, in publication/print procedures and Corporate Design
  • General computer literacy, e.g. Microsoft Office applications, Photoshop, Internet, etc. Basic knowledge in layouting and editing programmes is an advantage
